I will be doing the Ipswich half on Bank Holiday weekend.....

The windscreen guy has finally turned up - at 4.15.....I originally booked for him to be here between 11 and 2, then yesterday the office rang and asked if he could come between 9.30 and 11.....instead, which suited me as it freed up the rest of the day.

    So....4.15....hmmm.....

    hello Hypno & all

Inspired by your sucess with jeans, the collective energy of everyone to get fit and also a bit of a wieght loss on my part (but only 1/4 of Hypno's amazing acheivement!) - the dreaded cupboard cleanout has been done & all the jeans sorted into order from:

    1. Can't beleive I let myself get that large!
    2. I can now do those up without having to suck in or lie down!
    3. If I can get into those by Thanksgiving (October) I'll be happy!
    4. Was I really ever that size and will I ever be again?

Pile four is the ultimate goal - but with age comes wisdom (ok - let's call it a reality check) and pile three seems realistic!

Having a hard time letting pile one go even though they are no longer being worn - any wisdom from Hypnoland?

Mother's wisdom from across the pond was to learn to let go and move on! - Didn't work, the result was a flurry of tears!

I have had many years of not being able to be ruthless and realistic with my clothes, rt, but this time I just took a deep breath, and sorted them into piles to keep, piles to throw in the bin, and piles to go to the charity shop.

Then I very quickly put them into bags, did them up and got rid of them before I could change my mind!

I had to do it about three times in total because each time the "to keep" pile had rather more of the "I can't get rid because" than was really necessary!

It was a bit emotional, but also very liberating! And I certainly don't regret it.

I've just the "ruthless and realistic" conversation with DH. He's not so attached to clothes, just "stuff".

We are moving in 6 weeks and he has boxes of stuff that he hasn't opened in 15 years - but still "needs". He said 'if it's easier for me to take it to the new house and dump it in the cellar, then that's what I'll do - What do I do with that???!!!

Pickle don't fear the Shred - embrace it, it's great! :j

    Genius! :rotfl:

My tuppence worth (not asked for, admittedly, but I'd hate to disappoint ;)): get rid of them as soon as you are out of them, maybe even Ebaying them and reinvesting the money you get into new, smaller clothes, else it won't seem such a disaster if you go back up...if you think you have to go out and spend money on new ones, that will make you think twice about going up again! :p

Thanks, I think! :rotfl: And about the boxes...are they full of rubbish, or things which contain genuine memories? If it's just tat, could some get 'lost' on the way to the new house? ;)

Oh god, that is not worth it. As for the boxes, there are loads of videos that he taped as a student. Probably some momentos, but my DH is a sensitive soul.

My Mum once bought him a hoody for Christmas as his had seen better (student) days. He was very grateful, but told me afterwards that he didn't want to wear it all the time, as he "felt sorry" for his other ones - Bless!

So, as much as I love that side of him it's also :wall:
