EA, have you seen the Gill Rapley book on BLW? It would definately be worth seeing if your library has it to show DH that it's a safe and practical option.
Do any of you use Surestart centres? They're opening a new one literally 2 minutes walk from us, and it seems like some of the activities would be quite fun. Are they chavvy, or do other people use them as well?
I literally have just been on her websiteI did ebay it but its £7 and i hate paying money for books
I use our surestart centre for baby group, has a good mix of people and about 2 chavvy(ish) girls. They seem nice though. I dont know, i dont talk to them. I tend to sit in the corner with Lily :rotfl:I was going to suggest the Pyramids too, but I'm not sure if its reopened or not yet? Its just had a huge refurb.
It reopened 31st July from when i was looking at the website in July.got-it-spend-it wrote: »I had forgotten about the Pyramids. We'll have to go there once the holidays are finished.
I think its cheaper to get in now, we're taking Lily to mountbatten swimming pool when the Holidays are over so she gets used to swimming. Then i'd love to take her to Pyramids. I love the super waves in the evening!

Bexta we go to sure start things all the time. Sure start in Winchester is probably not quite the same as it is elsewhere though - even the chavvy bits of Winchester aren't that bad (i should know, i live in probably the worst postcode in the place!)

We have weighing clinic at the Sure Start centre which does attract a wide range of people (particularly, it would seem, those who like to leave their toddler unattended to run around all the helpless babies on the floor). I've also done a first time mums group, which was fab, a weekly pram walk and a baby massage class. I guess we're not a particularly under-privileged area, but I certainly haven't found the centre chavvy at all.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

My nearest Surestart is smack-bang in the middle of the local chav-estate! Maybe I should visit one in one of the nicer, surrounding areas.:beer:0

Bexta - our surestart is new too so things are still getting going but so far so good, infact if anything some of the mums at ours are a little stuck up!
SS - what chutney did you make? Was it easy? Am thinking if doing some for Xmas.
EA - I think your now ex friend has a huge shock coming to her if she thinks it's all gonna be easy cos her LO is good ATM. Oh and !!!!!! at christening just for a party! Will the church allow this if she isn't a regular? I plan on moving T over to blw soon too, I didn't find the purees too much of a faff but I'd prefer if she ate with us rather than before or after. She'll happily hold food but isn't intrested in picking it up herself yet.
Kindof - ignore the daft bint, she's in for a shock later, karma and all!
Ladybird - eek at last min website set up.
Well went to garden centre and after went to the farm shop and got a huge basket of PYO strawberriesthen went to inlaws and mil fed us so that was a bonus. T is still full of cold and the snotty nose is now a cough and sneeze too so we didn't go swimming today.

Spicy plum, Som, and it was super easy. I chopped up an onion, 250g prunes, 250g dates, 750p plums and added some dried cranberries (I think a 250g bag) and threw them all in a pan. I added 350g sugar and a bunch of allspice, ground clove, ginger and cinnamon, then put in the zest of an orange and squashed the juice and some of the pulp in over the top. Then I added half a litre of vinegar (mix of white wine and apple) and a pinch of salt, stirred it up and boiled it. Then I turned down the heat and left it bubbling on the stove for an hour and spooned it into sterilised jars.
The original recipe requested apples and fresh cranberries, but plums were on offer.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

She said she's found a priest who will christen the baby without her being a church member or needing to go.
She said she's doing it for the babys own good and that if she decides to christen her babys she will be able to, as she will have already been christened.
Im not religious at all, but i do find it wrong to vow to raise your child in gods eyes when your not going to! She thinks it will be a nice celebration.
I did suggest a naming day but apparently that isn't good enough.
I've been looking online for BLW receipes and i just cant find anything that requires minimal effort. I dont even know what most of the ingrediants are! lol.
So far all i have it Banana Toast.
I would love to go to a PYO farm, i dont know if there is any near me.0 -
EA - I totally agree with you, very wrong! I thought the whole idea of blw was they just eat what you do, and if that's not appropriate then just a selection of what ever you have. I have some nice chunky pasta and some cheesey sauce I can't wait to try her with, but know it'll mucho messy!
SS - that recipe sounds good, tho might try it with the appleshave saved your post.

AArrgghhh!!! All I want is some sleep, just a little lie in
Im so fed up OH has had 3 days in a row off and not once has he offered to get up with T and let me have even just an hour in bed to catch up on some sleep. Despite me constantly dropping massive hints and constantly saying how tired I am. Not only that but I just cant stop yawning and even his mum commented on it yesterday and I replied 'yes Im shattered a lie in would be nice!'. Hes worked a 6 day week for the last 6 weeks so have let him lie on his one day off, but I cant remember the last time I got a lie in, am so up set
we're supposed to be going out today and I just cba now and feel like he only wants to be a Dad when its convienient for him. I could go on but I wont sorry to start the day off on a bad note.
