A bit of a brainwave there - half an hour of effort and a giant mess is starting to look fairly reasonable :j

Have emailed my stuff to myself so can go home and work there after my meeting. It's not ideal because of the noise, but I do need to be able to get up and wander about, not to mention eat some lunch. One last thing to do and I am off for errands, meeting and home.

ok 2 totally different questions:
does anyone have one of these backpack carriers and what do i need to look out for in a good one? we have started taking the kids out at night to help tire Charlie out, it seems to be working but we have a lazy baby Erin who will not walk lol!

and has anyone evert made sour dough and/or do you have a good link for a site or info on making it and then bread? i watched something on tv and would really like to give it a go?

Aww hugs Always - you've got so much going on, i'm not suprised you need a rant!

Can you not escape for an hour of peace at some point?

What's your mums problem with messy hands? I thought eating with your hands and getting messy was a normal part of development.

When J was a baby, his reluctance to get messy hands was a sign that all was not right. Tell your Mum if he isn't getting messy it's time to worry.

And if it makes you feel any better, the sun isn't out here, it's p'ing down and my washing is out.

Jillie let me know if you find a :money:pressure fitted gate. Our stairs mean we can't fit a proper one and our pressure one is
broken. (Stuck in a too small position and I can't shift it bigger).

Just had another food tantrum, she only had 5ozs of bottle and started trying to throw herself off my lap and about 2/3 of food then had a tantrum and cried.

As soon as i got her out of the bumbo she was completly fine. Grr to her!

this is the pressure gate we're going to have to get http://www.lindamsafetygate.co.uk/flexigate.php as the one that was just in the asda event is too small by 1cm :mad:

its a bit more expensive but means it can go to PIL when Kian is there without them needing to purchase one as well. And we can take it, if need be on holiday as well.

Kian, from the sounds of it is beginning to understand 'no'...he cries when i say 'NO' firmly when he is messing with the cable box...bangs his hand on it which cant be good.

ETA--- doh its got bad reviews........

right back to the original one from asda, where can you buy extensions for it??

EA I have this with Lexi all the time still .... sorry probably not what you wanted to hear I put her in her high chair and after less than a quater of her meal she is screaming to get out and telling me 'no more'! Some days I can calm her down and get her to eat more, sometimes I cant though and I just have to let her go and then she is all happy and smiles! I found since I have stopped stressing about it myself she *seems* to just be getting on with it
I think Lilly will be fine, she looks very tall so that will be why her waist and things have gone smaller.
With Lexi and meal times as I commented the other day its a nightmare, Lilly seems really bright though so she isnt going to let herself go hungry. IMO its a phase that will pass soon.

ooh according to the amazon website you get a coupon to get the extension free (pay P&p) can anyone confirm this is the case with the asda one?

Thanks Sparkle, i have been praising her loads by clapping and saying 'yay' when she lets me put food in her mouth, that works a few times. And other times i quickly stick it in when she opens her mouth.

We've started giving her a bottle before bed now to increase her milk intake. She's meant to have 37.5ozs throughout the day and only had 27ozs yesterday (including the bedtime bottle)

It might be worth trying asda one - the one I just fitted http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3762383/Trail/searchtext%3ESTAIR+GATE.htm says to 78cm and our stairs were a bit wider and it's fine. In the great stairgate quest (we need 4 just for the stairs!), I tried one of those flexible ones out and it was hopeless.

You can get extenders in argos for lindam gates for £7.99, think the asda one is lindam isn't it? Thinking about it we have some extender bolts that might do the trick for 1cm from one of our donated gates, where are you or maybe the fairies could help by post, don't think 2 bolts would weigh that much?

3 - no idea what my mums issue about hand eating is, afterall what's he supposed to use to explore at nearly 8 months?!! She has a lot of very strong ideas about what her grandson should and shouldn't be doing yet, no doubt my perfect brother and perfect pregnant SIL will produce the grandaughter she wants and T can then get away with everything!
