Ello must be eating tons of salt if theres a lot in garlic bread, thats her favourite food (well maybe equal with cherries)

Millie and El have never been to Macdonalds but like Ladybird says thats just because I don't ever go in there.

Has anyone seen any cheap whiteboard pens anywhere? I'm thinking of home bargains or poundland maybe? and a cheap lockable box in which to put said whiteboard pens? Millie has decided that that is the perfect present for her teacher so I'm going to have to make a special trip to get some on Tuesday (I was hoping she'd be happy with a bottle of wine from the shop opposite school!)

Anyway, I am going back to lurking as it looks like I have upset Becles. Thanks for your thoughts everyone.

Yes you did upset me, because you decided an innocent comment I said was an attack on you. I don't do crap mind games like that as well you know.

And now you are flouncing off in a huff and blaming it on me. Well thanks for upsetting me a second time :(
Here I go again on my own....

Millies Mum - i haven't seen any about, but then I haven't been looking! I agree though, maybe Home bargains.....You just reminded me in fact, I haven't even thought about a gift for the teachers, I don't usually bother to be honest, but this year L's teacher goes on Maternity leave when they break up and J is leaving the infants to go to Juniors and his teacher taught both of my boys so I really should sort something out for them.

See you Tuesday then 3:D I will get some biccies in for [STRIKE]a cuppa[/STRIKE] the kids;)

Mmmmmm, yes, the kids love biccies. ;)
(I'll only have V, the big ones are in school until Wednesday. Have your big boys finished? )

When J was a baby, the Dr told me to put a drop or two of fresh orange juice into a couple of oz of cooled boiled water. It worked almost instantly (or maybe he was ready to poop anyway!)

    :TYey for Kai's first work.

But you have to do things like that sometimes, otherwise she will binge on rubbish when she's older as it's always been withheld. And you can't avoid everything, and I personally wouldn't want to! :p Mine don't like McD's but love going Pizza Hut, I know it's the bl00dy ice cream machine. :D

Totally agree with that bit. There is a little girl down the road, same age as L, but seriously overweight. Her mum doesn't understand why she's overweight because she's not allowed anything bad. But, according to L, she swaps stuff in her lunch box for other peoples more interesting stuff, and finishes other childrens interesting stuff too if it's going spare. She's already got serious food issues like hoarding and hiding it to binge when her mum isn't looking! :(

I don't use salt in cooking, never have, but V pretty much has whatever we have. She really loves meat though. She ate the chicken from her roast first today, and while we were on holiday we had a MacD's, she threw the bread & chips and ate the burger first.

This is the sort of thing I was meaning. I was looking for ideas for finger food and keep seeing pitta bread with homous. But when I look at the ingredients of homous, it contains salt! That's where I get a bit confused and think it's a minefield! She has had garlic bread before - I never even considered the salt in that. So whilst I wouldn't add salt to cooking if I intended to give it to Holly (although if I wasn't, I would add salt because I salt to taste during cooking, and don't add it after), I think I need to be a bit more carefree with the ready bought stuff as I know I am not going to make my own homous and every little thing!

Anyway, I am going back to lurking as it looks like I have upset Becles. Thanks for your thoughts everyone.

And Holly loves Ice-cream Mars Bars! Clearly she hasn't had a full one to herself though. :p

I never really thought about the amount of salt in hummous! I would say H only has a teaspoon on his sandwich so I wouldn't have thought there was that much salt in it since it doesn't taste that salty. I might be wrong though!

I did actually check the salt in baked beans and it was 0.3g sodium per 100g, but a tin (400g) made about six portions so I didn't think that seemed too bad!

I am fairly sure that no-one on here is going to poison their child with salt, and that no-one actually thinks anyone else is going to either! I guess we all have things that we are more cautious about, and things we are more relaxed about and they're not always the same as one another. I know I do. I was totally  about one of Henry's friends being given a whole fruit shoot, but I'll happily give Henry a piece of my biscuit.

I can't get Izzy to eat meat. She loves pate on crackers, and sausages, and she will sometimes eat meat/fish IN things at nursery, but she won't eat it just as meat iyswim. Don't know if it is because I don't eat it? I'm not overly fussed, as I know she has eggs and vegetarian sausages, and I sneak beans in where I can, so between what she has with me and nursery I'm sure she is getting just about enough, but it would be easier if she would share meat with DH sometimes - apart from anything else, it would mean that he could cook her tea for once ;)

Oh and knowing the teachers I know, a bottle of wine would be the perfect gift. Possibly not if going on mat leave though!

Oh, AND I used to nick money from my parents to buy chocolate/crisps because we were never allowed any. My mum caught me with a bag of crisps once and thought I'd nicked them from the shop. I couldn't tell her that I didn't because the truth was even worse. (I've still not owned up to it now!) So yes, I'm definitely in the "a little of what you fancy" camp. Shame I personally have trouble with the "little" part of that though :rotfl:.

Now I really must go get in the bath. I was going to have an early night, but by the time I get to bed it will be too late to be an early one.

    Hello,

I've spent the morning at church helping 12 3-5 years make grass heads, at the same time as eating as they were eating lots of cake! This afternoon I've spent gathering everything together to move my direct debits, I've done as many as I can on-line, some required phone calls, others have required me creating a mail merge. All done now. Katie loves it when I'm printing stuff as she collects it off the printer and hands it to me.

Katie has also spent the day demanding to watch herself, the last time she go down and treated me to a private performance of everything she did yesterday.

We also watched Nemo, she got a bit scared and upset in parts though. Then I compounded it by showing her my wedding pictures (she wanted to see mummy in a pretty dress!) but couldn't understand why she wasn't there so followed it up with the Baptism pictures.

She is now requesting a trip to London to see DH's best mate!

Salt - I don't add it to what I'm cooking, DH adds it before he joins us at the table. I try to cook from scratch as much as I can but junk is an occasional treat. McD's is a treat because I'm not keen on it - it came into it's own yesterday when we only had a short gap between both performances. We tried her on the fish fingers yesterday which we eated with more enthusiasm than McNuggets, the fries are always left, so she gets a milkshake to fill her up.

Please don't get upset with each other, I think the tone of things can be miscommunicated in text.

I had a friend growing up who wasn't allowed sugar - so by the time she got to secondary school she'd buy herself loads of chocolate to eat on the way home and any that wasn't eaten was shoved down the grid!
Proud to be dealing with my debts

    Evening all..

Didn't get the (Britax First Class Plus) car seat - don't like (at all!) the way it moves so much side to side when rearfacing  Do like it when it's forward facing (and doesn't budge an inch!), so going to leave Rhys in his SX infant carrier for a bit longer then get something else, possibly the Britax or maybe a Maxi Cosi, once his knees are under his chin in the SX - it's going to be a length issue before a weight issue, methinks! ;)

Millie's Mum, does it have to be a lockable box? My whiteboard pens at work live in a Ferrero Rocher box - came with the added advantage of having to empty it to make room for the pens too ;)
