Hmmmmm - I've just been virtual window shopping on this site and if I had the cash would have spent £53 on sweets!

I would have needed to buy any for ages though.

Plain flour, milk, egg just like pancake batter. Heat oil in a yorkshire/muffin tray and pour small amounts of mixture on to the hot oil.

Don't use self raising flour! You will end up with greasy balls of stodge.
Damn, i did use sr flour as its all i have lol. Ah well, guess we wont have any :)
Thanks for the recipes though, i shall write it out and put it in my recipe folder :D

SS what a stressy story, but with a happy ending :)

Bastage camps have changed the fb page, so you can't view any details if you aren't a member. I wouldn't imagine they will accept any members who are your friends either 3! Never mind.

That's a pretty good result that you've made them do that 3.....It will stop other people being able to view it and get sucked in :j

I'm sooooo tired after my night out last night. Had a lovely time tho.

I didn't find that out until recently when I was lamenting to my nan that they were always stodgy lumps!

She's a great cook and says that she uses the batter mix (tesco value or sainsburys basics) and they're always fine :T I think my cheapness has rubbed off on her in recent years, before I had the kids and she used to take me shopping every week I never would have said she'd buy tesco value anything :rotfl:

OH just popped back on his way to work, now it'll only be the odd visit for about 2 weeks, and although I've felt a bit suffocated lately what with being ill I just realised how much I'm going to miss him :(

Got HV and MW visiting tomorrow then am going to make a real effort to go out and do something with the kids, even if we just get on a bus and go to the play centre.

 I told my mother about our plans for Christmas here and not with them. She countered by telling me I owe my brother £4k and he needs it asap

He doesn't need it, he has a ton of cash sitting in the bank even though he doesn't work, pay rent or have a social life to pay for. But apparently I promised it arbitrarily when he was in his final year of university and although he dropped out he wants it now. I'm tempted to tell him to go back and he can have it then but I will figure out how to sort it with maternity pay and paying for my counselling diploma and so on

I suppose it is quite a scary thought, I'd not let Keira meet people off the internet, but it's a case of Do as I say not as I do on that one :rotfl: I've met people off the internet before and never met a weirdo, well there is my friend Gaz.....

But, I've spoken to them a loooooooooooooong time.

I guess going to California is fufilling a wish of mine to travel, and since having Keira I'm not going to get many oppurtunities, or afford it. But as I'd be staying at his and we'd be driving to these places and petrol is cheap (er) over there, It seems like I could get to see a lot of new places and new experiences that I'd never ordinallary get the chance too.

I've always wanted to see Mexico! Canada would be nice, so would Las vegas! I've spoken to him and his family for a long time, and the only thing weird about him is that he owns a chihuhua and gets manicures (but then he does live in the OC :p)

I often speak with my parent head on, my overprotective parent head on. Not done me or the girls any harm as yet, but just ignore me :p Mexico is a scary place from what I hear.
    I
I don't have a new car nor a baby on the way. Am I missing out? ;)

    Yes, on both counts :p
Afternoon all :) We won 3rd prize on the biggest marrow and best beetroot categories at the allotment show. No prizes for my chutney though :( And Izzy loved Elvis! And she ate an entire massive sausage from the BBQ too.

I think you have to be sensible about it really. If I made a friend on the internet I wouldn't go visit their house on my own after a week. I would quite happily go meet someone I'd been speaking to for a few months, but only if I was meeting them somewhere public. And I've been to parties hosted by internet friends, that were going to be attended by lots of internet friends, some of which I'd met before and some not. I didn't view that as being quite the same though. I suppose it would be possible for someone to set up 25 different alter egos all claiming they would be at the same party, to entrap me into turning up at their house, but really that sounds like a lot of work to me :rotfl:.
    .

    Congrats :T

25 alter egos would be hard work, but I bet people do it. There are enough on this site, particularly in Discussion Time etc. Maybe not 25, but i'm sure a few have a few.

I am quite militarian on some things, but totally relaxed on others, not much inbetween, but as I say, not doing any of us any harm. Just wait until the girls bring home a partner I don't like :o

Owe as in borrowed and need to pay it back or owe as in you once said you would give him it as a gift?

If it's the latter I would totally not do it! If you promised it for uni and he dropped out it's his loss.

Oh, and can you please link me your plum chutney recipe? I know you changed ti from something else and I'm pretty sure you already gave me the link but I don't know where that was :o Plums were on offer in morrisons today so I bought some!

I think 3 probably has that many on FB posting Bastage Camp links :rotfl:

Edit: sadly SJ I borrowed it, had completely forgotten TBH because it was about six years ago and I needed it for tuition fees. But asking for it now when I'm about to go back onto maternity pay AND we're looking at buying a house is sheer bloody-mindedness.

    Chutney:

    750gish plums
    200g prunes
    200g dates
    200g cranberries
    1 onion
    1 orange
    sugar
600mlish vinegar, I used half white wine and half cider
    ginger
    ground cloves
    cinnamon
    allspice
    salt

Chop all the fruit except the orange and the onion and drop them in a big pan. Stir them around and zest the orange over the top. Slice the naked orange in half and squeeze out all the juice over the top, then drop in whatever pulp looks like it's escaping. Dump the sugar and spices over the top and stir it all up. Pour the vinegar over it (I poured it over the zester to get all the loose bits off), stir it some more and add a teaspoon or so of salt. Stir it again and bring it to the boil, then turn down the heat a bit and leave it to bubble happily for an hour or till it's at the sort of consistency you want. Ladle it into sterilised jars and marvel at your domesticity.
