.....and Stephy I think the ONLY time my dad actually listened to me was when I told him I was on anti-depressents and him coming round and telling me what was wrong with my life was not helping. Really he still wasn't listening as all he heard was the words 'Anti-depressants' and rang my brother to tell him he thought I was going to kill myself!!!

Hi Stephy :hello: glad to hear things have calmed down a bit. It reminds me of a story I read somewhere. Basically this girl was at uni and wrote a letter to her parents and it said something like this.
I'm really sorry I havn't been in touch for a while, things have been really tough lately. Unfortunately there was a terrible fire and my flat was completely destroyed. Luckily I met this fab bloke and he's from a great family. He was so kind so I'm sure you won't mind too much that we got married - oh and best of all we're expecting (so soon!) so I'm sure you'll love to have your first grandchild.
Actually I'm fine. I did slightly fail one of my college courses, the flat's fine and I'm not married or pregnant! I just wanted to make sure that when I told you about my grades you put it in the correct perspective.

I thought you might like the story as it kind of seemed relevant.

I've had that one as well. Not helpful when you get a constant barrage of "how could you do this to me?" comments, is it?:( "Errr.... sorry? How could I do this to you?!" Good old parents - always there with a critical sniff and the evil eye, just when you need it most... ;)

my parents know nothing about my debts. When I first got a CC my mum found a payment to them and thought it was a charity donation. I do ask them for help when I need it but that just for having a low income.

Hoglet - yep, it's one of my favourites! ;) Although Jasper is terrified by the Kitlers - he says they'll enslave us all in the end...

Here are another set of our online favourites to keep you smiling (hopefully):

morning all. i completely fell asleep by 10pm last night, think i needed to catch up! although today ive woke up with a nasty cold! :( butti what u wrote is so true, and i thank you for being so understanding. and fairy thats the best story ever hahaha thats what i want to remind them of! i know that they dont even agree with me living with my bf incase it doesnt work out and i have to go home again. but its been working out for a year now!
i'm not gettin my appitite back yet though :( yesterday i nibbled a slice of pizza and then really felt sick.
got my neices birthday party today, my mum will be there but my dad wont, so i doubt anythin will be said, also i will have my boyfriend there for reinforcements as they never ever ever say any put downs in front of anyone else. so they obviously know they do it!
where has the sun gone? i had hoped it would be sunny so i can play on the bouncy castle at the party?

Let me get this right. They don't put you down when there are other people around only when there's nobody else around?

That is worse. Unlike members of my family who have a defence mechanism which means they instantly attack by shoving their foot in their mouth, they are demonstrating a level of thought going into putting you down.

I'm afraid I would use the broken record technique with them in future. When they go on the attack point out how interesting it is that they never do this when anyone else is around.

Now enjoy your day (that is an order) and have fun bouncing!
