I went into an A&L branch Saturday closed my online saver account & they paid all interest up untill Saturday. They will withdraw the cash & pay it into your current account then & there with a reciept.

I wanted to do this but when I went into the branch they told me that they had no access to online accounts and I had to do it online.

The letter closing all my A & L accounts will be mailed to Santander tomorrow.

presumably you mean the current account that one uses as a nominated/linked account to the Online Saver?

Yes that one. They didn't transfer it straight to it, they have to withdraw the cash, close the account & pay it in as a cash deposit.
  • Moneysavingexpert is a powerful website. I'm surprised no one (media wise) has picked up on this....11 pages of complaints regarding the migration should cause some media interest...in particular the newspapers that like's bashing the banks :)

I did send the link to this thread to various media outlets a week or so ago- as well as Santander themselves. Dunno if anyone's taken any notice or not!

Yes CD - especially as all the posters above are saying they are going to close their accounts.
There must be hundreds of us of the same mind - I wonder what % of the total customers are of the same mind also ????

I would have thought that would be of some media attention.

I heard in the news today that HSBC have made pre-tax
    profits of SEVEN billion ££££££.

I must be in the wrong business. lol

I regularly set up payments with a future date, in case I forget! Last week they deleted all the payments I had set up, causing me to go overdrawn. Yet again today the payments I set up last week to be transacted today were not actioned.

I phoned CS who seemed really harrassed, they said 'oh the internet banking can't do future payments at the moment'. Why don't they inform customers of this, again I would have gone overdrawn if I hadn't checked my account. I am really worried about setting these up for when I go away. How will I know if they will go? I've set up a couple of test transfers from savings to current, fingers crossed they are processed.

Just phoned telephone banking passed through security to my accounts. Can I close the Online Saver Issue 5 please? I was asked two more questions, then no I had failed security, take photographic ID to a Santander branch and they will do this for you.

I have just passed throught telephone security, how can I have failed security?

This bank is really annoying me, I have never had this problem closing these accounts.
