~Avon Hints and Tips~(Part 5)

Probably the most honest info you'll get is on here - if you google it you'll probably find the "get a free car / holiday" etc stuff that avon promotes. Which yes, you can get a free car / holiday as a sales leader - but only really the top people achieve that, and it would be difficult to get to those levels now unless you were very lucky.
A SL, as !!!!!! mentioned, isn't restricted geographically. ASMs are, they have a specific area they are in charge of, they are there to (in theory) keep overall control of territory, sorting out problems, as well as signing up reps and some help SL too (my new one does which is great - the old one was rubbish).
SL don't have targets unlike ASMs, being self employed we can do as little, or as much, as we like. I work full time too, so don't spend much time building my team, though I am there to support existing team members when they need any help.
in theory - even if the whole of the UK had a rep to cover every street, you could still get new people being reps, as a lot of people only want to sell to just their work place / friends / family. Obviously that would reduce sales to the territory reps, as they would loose some customers to these reps, but a lot of people only want to put little orders through so that they can get their own stuff at a discount - I know I would if I ever decided to stop doing avon, I'd just do a bit, as we can still order the demo products at a discount regardless of how little we order.
Like I mentioned, we tried kleeneze, and absolutely hated it - it was too full on. Avon is a lot more laid back in that respect, which we like. Obviously some of that depends on who you join with - some asms / SL will be pushier than others, but for the main part, they know you are only going to do as much as you want to, they will try and motivate you to achieve what you want - but there isn't that feeling of being "pushed" as much. Plus theres no upfront costs, which means people can try it and if they don't like it they aren't out of pocket. Though it leaves us SL out of pocket, as we only get refunded for the brochures we provide when a new rep places an order of £78 or more - I was very irriated when a new lady placed an order of less than £30 (so I didn't earn anything), didn't get my money back for the books, and yet I still needed to provide her second lot of brochures. Doesn't happen too often thankfully, but I can see why its like that - keeps avons costs down, and means SL can't abuse the system.
Cheers Lozza for some valuable info :T
Can you not MAKE sure your the order is above £78 & send the unwanted goods back for a credit???The Seeker of Truth & Justice for all0 -

I told the rep to do that, she understood, and yet she ignored me and did as she pleased anyway. People will do as they want no matter how good the advice they get, had she done as I said she would have got a discount on her order, but she ignored me, so she had to pay full price.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
SLs would advertise/recruit anywhere they are happy to have a Rep, they would not need to know where to put new recruits. Anyone in the whole country could sign upto be a Rep, as long as the SL could easily get to them to sign them up, support them, etc, this is fine. If you mean how would an SL know how to allocate territory, they would use SMA which is a territory mapping tool. They could only use this on the initial sign up to allocate territory. After this they would have to go through the Rep's ASM to get territory allocated.
All Reps would come under specific ASMs even though their SL may not be from their area and would have a different ASM.
To get hold of an ASM in Oxfordshire, near to where you live, you need to sign up at Avon, use this link
An ASM will contact you - the nearest one to you in Oxfordshire. They can take upto 2 weeks to contact you.

I say that because based on feedback from this forum, this is how long it takes SOME ASMS to follow through on signups. Now this maybe because they are ultra busy, with lots of requests through the website.
I think anyone applying through the website, should get a call from the ASM within a couple of days to say their application has been received and to arrange a convenient date and time to sign up, but this is my personal opinion. I do not know the ins and outs of ASMs jobs, and know it involves meetings, targets to be met, recruiting, swooping, etc.
So maybe for an ASM to take upto a week to get back to someone maybe reasonable.0 -

Get your friends to recommend your page to their friends, people you don't know, family, etc.
When you deliver to your customers, put your FB page on their order forms, and tell them to tell their friends and family.
Maybe offer something, if any of these people get you a new customer through you FB page, you will give them a free mystery gift?
If you do any local adverts make sure you add your FB page.
If you are Mum/grandparent, advertise on netmums and put a link to your FB page. Advertise on Gumtree and think you can put link to FB page.
note to self, hurry up and change fB page!0 -

I've started leaving out brochures but something is bugging me -
my SL told me I had a £200 order limit for my first campaign - after I won't have any.
So now I don't want to leave out too many brochures until I get some orders to see how much people are ordering.
What happens if I get more than £200, can she raise my limit or order for me?
Help!0 -

I hear that there is an order limit just on your first order. I think it is because you have yet to build up a reputation with Avon and they do not want people ordering several hundreds of pounds of products and then not paying. Graduate Bum I suggest you contact your SL and ask what would happen if you got orders over this amount on your first campaign. After your first campaign, should everything run smoothly, your limit will be increased.0
