Can I ask... Do people find that NSD's really help them cut down on thier spending? Or do you find you still spend as much you just push it to other days?
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

    Hi lovely NSD gang :A
Wow, lots more targets being met today and loads more NSDs :j- the shops must be seriously suffering with us lot keeping our purses and wallets firmly under control.;)

    Targets met today:
Tixy: :jyay, well done for no 10 - you got there this month, brilliant! :j You have your own dancing kitty now so no need to borrow anyone else’s;)
Increasing your target now to 12, Johnny is waiting now:)
fedupandskint: :j you have indeed hit your target today, well done, 12 NSDs is brilliant. :j Dancing kitty is heading your way now, look after her;)
Would you like to increase your target for the rest of the month or stay at 12 now and, if you get any more you’ll get the refillable champagne bottle (have a look at the front page, I’m not going mad, really:rotfl:....)
Angyles: :jwell done, 12 NSDs is brilliant, dancing kitty is heading your way now.:j Increasing your target to 14 now, good luck with reaching that:)
katenut: :jyay, you got there, brilliant, 15 NSDs done and dusted now. :j Little kitty is dancing your way now, look after her. :)

    Well done to:
:jGeorgieFTB: well done for no 7, only 1 more to get now, brilliant.
I see the leaving purse at home technique is being adopted more and more often, obviously working;)
:jBigMumma: well done for no 18, doing great there, 2 more to get now:)
:jNatty68: well done for getting up to no 15, you’ve been busy not spending - brilliant
You’re not struggling at all, only 2 more to get now, you can do it, fingers crossed for you:)
:jLadyfromVenice: well done for no 16, you’re doing great, 2 more to get now
31 coming up for August then, is it? And you’re very right with your comment, it really doesn’t matter how many we get and what we count as long as we’re helping ourselves spend less money, that’s the aim:T
:jTrinny: well done for no 7, you’re having a great month, that’s fantastic. 1 more to get now, keep going:)
:jilovetea: well done for no 19, you’re doing brilliantly, 1 more to get now, nearly there:)
:jboultdj: well done for no 18 - you’re doing great, target well and truly smashed now. Hope kitty is behaving herself still and not drinking all your champagne;)
:jTMVen: well done for no 12, lovely of your sister to pay for your shopping. Hope you had a good relaxing day today, housework can always wait (that’s my motto;))
Update: and well done for no 13 - 2 more to get to your target now, keep going:j
:jelfen: well done for no 16, new target definitely within reach now, Johnny’s waiting:)
:jmicron: well done for no 19, you’re doing brilliantly, 1 more to get now, fingers crossed:)
:jSmilerwoman: well done for no 9, you’ve done really well.
Great news about getting your lunch sorted, it really will save you loads of money:T. Enjoy your coffee with your friend, we all need a little treat occasionally and good luck with making your target on Thursday, fingers definitely crossed for you:)
:jjintyb: really sorry to hear about puss:(, they can be a real worry, hope the vet sorts him out tonight, good luck. Ahh, that must be a relief, poor puss must have been in some pain. It’s quite common in male cats apparently, a special diet usually sorts them out.
And well done for no 16 today, 1 more to go to get Johnny;)
:jCraigLoans: well done for no 13, definitely lucky for you. Good luck for tomorrow and your target, fingers crossed:)
:jkarenccs67: well done for no 13 today, you’re doing brilliantly. 2 more to get your target now, keep going:)
:jkathy40uk: well done for no 19, you’ve had a fantastic month, 1 more to get your second target now, Johnny’s waiting:)
:jkatholicos: well done for no 19, you’ve had a brilliant month, NSDs just flying in.:)
Will add you to the August challenge when it’s up and running
:jSoma: well done for no 9, nearly at target now, fingers crossed for tomorrow:)
:jcw18: glad OH and his son enjoyed the baking, seems you’ve found a way to contribute nicely now - guess they really appreciate the home baking:)
Update: well done for no 21 today, you’re doing brilliantly, 2 more to make target no 3.
Getting organised for August as well I see.:T
:jteenyweenyspender: well done for no 17 - you're doing great, fingers crossed for tomorrow as well:)

    And hello to everyone else:
Jo_Rourke: Hope Delilah is behaving herself and not making any messes anywhere - she gets a bit nervous when going to a new home:rotfl:
Looloo: increasing your target now to 15, going for the funky chicken now then - good luck!;)
candyapple: glad you got some milk today, champagne doesn’t really go that well with coffee:rotfl:...
Good luck with your shopping tomorrow, hope you get what you’re looking for
Nargle: low spend today was good. Hope the mega-spendy day tomorrow isn’t too bad, fingers crossed for Thursday, Johnny’s waiting:)
Hannah_10: keeping my fingers crossed for Thursday, your target awaits:)
slowlyfading: getting exciting now, bet you can’t wait for moving in day on Saturday
BDINI: your friend clearly needs some support, hope she’s OK. Don’t be upset at “only” 15 NSDs, you’ve had an awful lot on this month with the builders etc, so you’ve done really well to get that far. There’s always August to try for some more:)
Jo and Delilah: hope the spendy day today wasn’t too serious. Of course you may revise your target, increasing it to 12 now - good luck;)

I managed to get no 21 today, so mega-pleased with myself:j, 1 more left now, think that will be Friday as I have to go out tomorrow and grocery spends on Thursday.

Off to do the usual update now, see you all tomorrow.

    Hi Hannah
Personally speaking I find it really has cut down on the amount I spend because I don't buy as much rubbish and/or unnecessary stuff - that's where the big difference is with me. I still spend about the same on groceries but now, instead of buying lunch every day I make my own, don't buy magazines that I don't read, etc, etc.

Think lots of the others feel the same as well but you have to give it time for you to get into the NSD habit and way of thinking.

Hope this helps, no doubt some of the others will add their thoughts tomorrow.

It definitely saves me money, as it stops me calling into the 'tat' shops as I'm passing (could regularly spend £5 a time on sweets, biscuits or 'bits' I thought would be useful at some point)

JintyB, I know this sounds really silly but I didn't think boy cats (or boy anythings) could get cystitis! Hehe, you're probably all going to laugh at me now! Oh well, you learn something new every day ! You see, it's worth coming on here for all the knowledge you get!:rotfl:

Aww poor little cat jintyb, my little puss suffers from the same thing and he's been on the special diet for a year now. Luckily he loves it, its a bit more expensive than normal cat food but worth every penny as I never want to see him suffer like that again. Hope your lad is feeling better soon :) Thanks Katenut - me too, hate if they're suffering - trouble is he wasnt showing any difference in behaviour ie eating normally etc, that's whats scary, you dont always know if somethings wrong!

NSD 9 today and aiming for 10 tomorrow :) this is a fab challenge

jintyb do you have pet insurance? one of my cats kept getting blockages (this is more common in male cats as their wee wee has an s bend in it), we had it flushed to the tune of £500 then he got blocked again shortly afterwards and had to have his wee wee chopped off for £700. Make sure your cat has wet food and lots of water and exercise:) if you didn't have insurance, your cat won't be covered for anything urine related now Thanks Soma - yes he's insured, although Im not claiming this episode ATM as the excess doesnt make it worthwhile. Thankfully we caught it before a blockage occured so the vet says it can be managed with diet. He didnt mention wet food although I know its recommended. I'll stick to the regime per the vat and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it

Morning everyone - hoping for calmer day today - puss seems fine this morning, quite perky, so that's good.
I'm going in earlier to work today to make up for leaving early yesterday. Today will be a NSD as I've got lunch prepared and no other spends necessary!

Have a lovely day all and thanks for all the kind wishes re pusskins!:)

I find it definately helps stop all those little popping into the shop on the way home from work for milk, and coming out 20 quid lighter!! It means I cook what we've got in rather than grabbing the easier (and more expensive) options on the way home.
Trying to jump back onto the moneysaving wagon ....

Oh dear, spend days all over the place! Monday was a spend day as went out for dinner with the girls (although it was cheap and cheerful at Weatherspoons).
Yesterday was a spend day as I NEEDED a Red Bull for an incredibly dull sales training day and had to pay to post all my ebay things.
Fingers crossed for today, tomorrow and Friday which will help me reach my target - no pressure!
Finally, debt free for the first time since I was 18!:D

    Hi Hannah,

It has helped me stop popping to the shops inbetween grocery shopping days, if I haven't got something I do question myself, do I really need it?... otherwise I know I will end up buying things I don't really need and the purpose of doing this challenge for me is to stop all those little extra spends. Obviously there are days when unexpected spends happen but it's a great feeling to report a NSD and it great to reach my target, also we're a great bunch of people supporting each other.
