Well, number 13 for me today :)

Since BMF said I should mention it - I'm moving out of home next weekend and me and my gorgeous BF have found a lovely cottage to rent together! :j :j Can't tell you how excited I am! :D
Good luck with the move SF...didn't realize it was so soon, mind you, we are nearing the end of July already...can't believe it!!
It will be a bit manic for a few weeks, but still loverly for you both!!

Had a lovely day up at a nearby Country Park (in Evesham, if some of you know it)...lots of nice shops!! Returned some pumps to Cotton Traders and got a refund :j, then spent the money at the garden centre :o! Mind you, got 10 plants for £15, so quite pleased!! All were reduced, bar one so I did pretty well!

Also got a lovely pair of sandals...Fly Flot...and in a sale too. I haven't had new sandals for a few years, and with the bunion, I have been reduced to wearing my old ones I had relegated to working in the garden!! These new ones have velcro on the straps at the front...Granny sandals...but they fit, and are soo comfy. They look pretty good too IMO! :)

Also got some damp seal paint as I want to get rid of the marks on the kitchen ceiling. made when the bathroom upstairs leaked last year. If I get it painted tonight, then I can get the whole ceiling re-done tomorrow ...I am on a mission!! ;)

So quite a spendy day, but I don't plan on getting anthing else until Monday..and even then only milk & eggs.

Already over my GC limit (by £17)...but trying to limit the damage for the rest of the month :o

Off to get some painting done now.

Hope to pick up two NSDs over the weekend, so should get to my target....then it's Johnny Depp time next week!!!

A bit concerned that I might not meet my target of 10.

Any advice? But I did manage to make it another NSD today. So that makes SEVEN. WOO :j

** is feeling pretty smug about having paid the paid the window cleaner earlier in the month, despite not owing him anything until the next time he came **

declaring today as NSD #18 :T

yes, you guessed it, the window cleaner was round doing the cleaning this morning - and I spotted him out collecting money this evening.

So the only way I could have held onto my NSD (had I not paid in advance on what was already a spend day) would have been to tell him I'd no money and that I'd settle up next time ;)

Overdraft reduced by £300 this month thanks to not spending on garbage - and that is a serious result for me:j. This is definitely a two-way thing for me, posting on here and doing the daily updates is definitely helping me as well - thanks everyone for your inspiration and for keeping me on the straight and narrow.:T

Off to do the usual update now, see you all tomorrow.

    Hello Trinny

Try keeping a record of what you're spending on, and come up with ways of avoiding them spends.
For instance with me it was Fresh milk (8 days in a month), Fruit, Veg(4 days in a mont), Chocolate (lost count) , Crisps (lost count), mineral water (a lot of times just because the bottle looked nice:o), mc$nalds (because I missed one) Sain$bury's danish pastries (because I happened to be passing by and the smell invited me in:o), and all sorts of impulse spending on toiletries, clothes etc..

For milk, Spoon suggested freezing it to preserve it, and I've also tried UHT and powdered depending on what you need it for.

I had to ask myself if I NEED or WANT it - the chocolate, crisps, mineral water, if its a want then i can do without it, find a substitute at home, and increase my NSDs, (and reduce my waistline in the process;), and increase my savings account balance too..:p)

So work out a plan where you do one big spend - say one or two big food and toiletries a month shopping,
try and group all your menial spends together, so you save yourself some days - e.g instead of buying bread today, milk tomorrow, fruit the next day, pick one day where you can buy all..
    • Freeze your veg so it doesnt go off, preserve anything that's likely to go off to avoid wastage, freeze all your left overs rather than bin them,
    • use salads first week of your shopping so you don't throw them away as they go off quicker
    • Learn to home make your favourite take away, that's why take aways and fast foods are in business, its cheap to make from scratch
Make a budget for all essential spending like DDs, petrol, transport
    costs, utilities etc.

Anything else thats unplanned will be your Spend day, so the trick is to ask yourself what you can do to avoid spending?

    Examples -
    • Do I really need chocolate?
    • Do i really need still water or i can do with tap water
    • Do i really need a can of pepsi or i can settle for a cordial?
    • Do i really need a macdonalds or i can use the mince meat i have at home to make my own home made burgers since i already have mince, mayo, ketchup tomatoes, lettuce and buns/bread at home? Oh and use those potatoes to make better home made chips to go with it.
    • I only have very little toothpaste left, can't i squeeze every bit out of that tube?
Is it worth spending £6.00 on a pub club sandwich or i can use the chicken and bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo and bread i have at home, and take sandwiches out when going to work?

I've learnt to make my own pizzas, much better than spending £15-20 at pizza h!t.

On the first page of this thread are some links, they are very useful, take look when you have time. The very act of minimizing your spend days in a month will train you too look after the contents of your kitchen and bathroom cupboards, in the long run everyone around you will follow suit.
:) The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time :)

    Good morning everyone!
Up early this morning, got woken up by a fox yelling in my frint garden!

Made it no 13 yesterday, stayed in most of the day. day! Jo- Mum and Dad were thrilled with the florentines - dont worry Spoon, I've kept you some, they're in the tuppperware next to the cooker, just help yourself!;)
I'm hoping it stays dry today as we are going to do a bit of work in the garden. There's a corner that's got a bit out of control! However, there's a big black cloud looming ATM - where is the summer??????
I'm aiming for no 14 today, I'd like to reach my target of 15 by the end of this weekend.
Had a bit of good news this morning - I won £23.50 on Euromillions last night! Yippee!:j I had ordered a rose as a gift for my sister's silver wedding so that will cover the cost of that plus a wee bit extra. ;)

    Have a lovely day everyone!:)
