    I'm sorry, but that's a rest day?
    From training it is :rotfl:

Last week I also had my school voluntary work in the morning, but the school broke up last Friday and I'm not going back in September so that was my last session (GDs have left the school with their house move, and I wasn't working when I started helping out)
    How do you keep going?
    Can't afford not to :o

If I collapse, then no-one's going to take over for me at home or work, and I'd lose too much income to be able to stay afloat for more than a couple of weeks ;)

The new exercise regime is partly to help me lose weight, as the GPs keep nagging me that my 'excess' isn't helping my back problem. 11 weeks ago I was at 10 st 9.75. This Monday I was at 10 st 1 - and I've not changed anything with my diet, other than drinking more water and now eating chocolate on a regular basis (App F00ds M@rs Bar after each exercise session). GP's would like me between 8st and 8.5st, but I know from past experience people think I look anorexic/ill below 9st so have already said I have no intentions whatsoever of going below that. 8.75lb gone, 15lb to go........

    Morning everyone! :hello:

Hope everyone's well. Got my lovely stock made from my chicken carcass, so tonight I am going to make some soup - I'm thinking chicken noodle & mushroom and maybe a creamy chicken one too. Got the recipes from the Old Style boards - so many ideas! :)

Thanks for your updates, Spoon, I love reading them in the mornings - it's so lovely of you to do it every day. :kisses3:

More florentines today for anyone who wants them :p Help yourselves!

Today will be a spendy day for me as it's my changeover day, so I got my money out this morning and I am doing my grocery shopping today after work at A$da. Managed to finish with £29 left over from last week's money!!! :j

Hope everyone has a good morning!

    Jo :)

Soups sound good, Jo, how did they turn out?

Thanks for the Florentine today, went down very well with my cup of tea this morning:D

Ahh... thanks, they seem to help everyone to keep track that's why I keep doing them;)

Hope the shopping wasn't too painful today?

Wel done, Cheryl, it really is paying off, well worth the effort then - I still think you're a bundle of energy - but I guess, like most of us, it's needs must - no choice:(

    Hello Trinny

Try keeping a record of what you're spending on, and come up with ways of avoiding them spends.
For instance with me it was Fresh milk (8 days in a month), Fruit, Veg(4 days in a mont), Chocolate (lost count) , Crisps (lost count), mineral water (a lot of times just because the bottle looked nice:o), mc$nalds (because I missed one) Sain$bury's danish pastries (because I happened to be passing by and the smell invited me in:o), and all sorts of impulse spending on toiletries, clothes etc..

For milk, Spoon suggested freezing it to preserve it, and I've also tried UHT and powdered depending on what you need it for.

I had to ask myself if I NEED or WANT it - the chocolate, crisps, mineral water, if its a want then i can do without it, find a substitute at home, and increase my NSDs, (and reduce my waistline in the process;), and increase my savings account balance too..:p)

So work out a plan where you do one big spend - say one or two big food and toiletries a month shopping,
try and group all your menial spends together, so you save yourself some days - e.g instead of buying bread today, milk tomorrow, fruit the next day, pick one day where you can buy all..
    • Freeze your veg so it doesnt go off, preserve anything that's likely to go off to avoid wastage, freeze all your left overs rather than bin them,
    • use salads first week of your shopping so you don't throw them away as they go off quicker
    • Learn to home make your favourite take away, that's why take aways and fast foods are in business, its cheap to make from scratch
Make a budget for all essential spending like DDs, petrol, transport
    costs, utilities etc.

Anything else thats unplanned will be your Spend day, so the trick is to ask yourself what you can do to avoid spending?

    Examples -
    • Do I really need chocolate?
    • Do i really need still water or i can do with tap water
    • Do i really need a can of pepsi or i can settle for a cordial?
    • Do i really need a macdonalds or i can use the mince meat i have at home to make my own home made burgers since i already have mince, mayo, ketchup tomatoes, lettuce and buns/bread at home? Oh and use those potatoes to make better home made chips to go with it.
    • I only have very little toothpaste left, can't i squeeze every bit out of that tube?
Is it worth spending £6.00 on a pub club sandwich or i can use the chicken and bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo and bread i have at home, and take sandwiches out when going to work?

I've learnt to make my own pizzas, much better than spending £15-20 at pizza h!t.

On the first page of this thread are some links, they are very useful, take look when you have time. The very act of minimizing your spend days in a month will train you too look after the contents of your kitchen and bathroom cupboards, in the long run everyone around you will follow suit.

    Great advice there, Mainyasha :T:T:T

Aww thank for my pressie Spoon, has made me smile this morning :D

No patronising from the tradesmen, just not turning up or returning my calls, in the grand scheme of things it wasn't that major, it was just a sulky sort of day (& i'm dying to get finished so i can start to clear up all the mess!!!!)

Right, off to work now, thanks again Spoon for all your fabby work on this thread, see you all later!!!!

Good morning all - very muggy and sticky here, didnt sleep very well!

Managed no 11 yesterday - today will be another as Im not taking any extra money or debit card. I'm doing a little experiment. I stashed a tenner in an old purse last Thursday from my grocery money and I wanted to see if it would be still there a week later. If it is, it's going in the car tax fund. I know its a small amount but this is the girl who never used to save for anything and bunged everything on credit cards and is still paying them off

Didnt do any knitting last night, my eyes were tired from staring at a screen all day so watched telly and just relaxed.

Nargleblast - I put my details into Ringtons, so just waiting for them to get in touch, thanks for the tips re what type to get. I'm very excited! I'm a saddo, I know!

lots of great posts from you guys - and lots of good tips!
I'm going to investigate the "clicks"

Have a lovely day everyone -:)

Hope you enjoy your Ringtons tea, Jinty. the biccies are not bad either! They call here once a fortnight on a Tuesday, so I try to plan any food spends for that Tuesday. However, this week I had already put the cash aside so I count yesterday as a NSD. Today hopefully will also be a NSD, despite DS mislaying his school bus pass! I had to give a him some bus money just in case, but I deducted it from his pocket money account. I remember him emptying his pockets yesterday and putting his pens and bus pass on the hall bench, but needless to say they were not there this morning. He probably stuffed them into his school bag somewhere, little oik! (Well, not so little, he's about five foot two and I'm only five foot three - will have to chop his legs off, methinks!)

Oh, it was all going so well for an NSD yesterday, then my cat got fleas (we think), so I had to spend £19.36 on flea treatment - how annoying! I did make £3 by selling a top. Fingers crossed for a NSD today!
Finally, debt free for the first time since I was 18!:D
