Fri, Sat & Sun were NSDs
£4.28 spent today, for which I got 8 pints of milk, a packet of (value) digestives and a tin of condensed milk (going to have a try at homemade florentines and hopefully have everything else I need), a tub of ice-cream, and a tub of 25 mini Flapjacks
The best deal of the day was the milk
Mr M have a 1% milk (4pt container) for 50p this week, so as I was wanting milk (and it had a good enough date) I picked up two containers. Scanned through at 50p each, and then promptly deducted 6p from the total.....
It appears it's still linked to the '£1.53 each or 2 for £3' offer on 4 pint containers of milk (think that's the offer anyway, don't normally buy my milk here so didn't check the sign properly) - so if you buy two of the offer ones it comes to 94p instead of £1 :T (And after my staff discount this dropped to just 85p for 8 pints of milk)

Just been checking the calendar and August is a 4 week month with almost a week away for us, making it a 3 week shopping month.
So basing the budget on £45 a week and £10 extra for the additional day or two I'm setting my budget at £145 for August please Mrs M.0 -
Just £2.25 to add for milk, spent over £56 in Pizza Hut yesterday for DS's birthday, but not counting that as it came out of another budget.
cw18 - Well done on getting such a bargain!

Hmm - well I hit Mr T today. I don't like my local store (and I'm not fond of Mr T in general, tbh) - but it's only a mile away, so by far the closest shop of any description to my house. My local store is undergoing a massive rebuild/ extension, so every customer in there is walking around looking confused, as they keep moving things about all over the place. Stupidly (imo) the freezers are now at the beginning, so my ice cream was squidgy by the time I'd finished shopping (it takes longer than usual because of the moving around of things)
However, the moving about had one good point today - the whoopsied chiller cabinet had moved and I think a lot of people hadn't found it because it was unbelievablly full. I bought f/r chicken breasts, 5 pieces of fillet steak, 6 pieces of rump, fresh pesto, cream cakes, peppercorn sauce (I usually make my own but this was silly price) and there was plenty more - but my freezer is now groaning! I also managed whoopsied syrup pancakes for pennies and some whoopsied croissants.
I think that, truth be told, I've now gone over budget for July - but as I hadn't kept full track I don't know how much by.
What I do know is that I'm not doing a big shop in there in the hols with 4 children in tow again!! Nightmare (even taking into account the whoopsies) I shall go to Mr S (further away) and have some deliveries. MR T will be used for milk/ bread purchases only - if necessary. With Dh working away Mon-Fridays throughout the hols I can probably cope without anyway - there's always bread products of some sort in the freezer/part bake in the cupboard and we have 4 colours of milk (red, green, blue and orange) - so I'm sure we can cope using different colours if necessary!!
I'm looking forward to a new month starting on SundayAnother point of DH being away is I'm having a big reorganisation of the house - I can get everything out of somewhere and not worry if it doesn't go back for a couple of days until it's fully sorted (would drive him mad) - which includes kitchen cupboards and inventories of foods!! I'm starting small this week, but planning for a larger attack for the following weeks!!

Hi, I have been playing along on the QT, but would like to go public for August and join the fun, if that's ok. I usually try for £250, I want to reduce it to £200 this month. 4 week month, DSD moving into her flat on 14th and we have DSD (9) here for 1 week, DS comes and goes but it's mainly the 2 of us. Confused so am I, when it comes to meals. DSD (22) works shifts so eats at work about twice a week and sometime eats at friends. Oh cat just sceaming at me reminded me , 3 cats to feed. I want to work towards £150 in september when it will be the 2 of us most of the time. I am hoping to pick up lots of tips this month. You are all very inspirational, thanksSew it, knit it, glue it, reuse it , don't buy it0

Quick update from the weekend, just under £30 (excluding DS party food) which leaves me £35.91 to last until Saturday. Quite pleased actually as that does include treats for a picnic yesterday.
Money still very tight overall so I can't afford to up my budget for August even though it's holidays. Mrs M, can I please go back to £240 for the calendar month of August.
It will be a challenge but I know I stand a better chance reading and posting here so thanks as always for the thread.
