Took my ma shopping yesterday & got some good reduced bargains in Asda ready for lunch today!
Made steak & kidney pie with shortcrust pastry, jammy tarts with the left over bits and a choco lime cheesecake all from scratch!!
Everyone loved it & all plates were cleared (did save a little back as a treat for the dog!)
Still got a fair bit left of the budget & hoping to come in under this month.
Oh while I'm thinking of it...
Can I put down £250 for August, thanks.:rotfl:

Well I am declaring July at £475.37, £25.37 over my usual £450 target. Better than the last two months but still a failure! I actually had high hopes that I would come in on target this month. I am certainly finding it more expensive having the kids off school. My DS doesn't seem to stop eating which is also playing havoc with his sugar levels (diabetic). We are off to Legoland tomorrow so grocery challenge wise it should be a NSD for the first day of my August challenge.
I do have quite a lot of food in the freezer and cupboards for August. I just need to actually use it! I know though that I will probably end up buying more joints of meat for Sunday dinners which OH loves (plus its one of the few things that all 4 kids will eat) which then leaves the invariable leftovers which get added to the stock of food in the freezer. I already have 4 dinners worth of cooked chicken from dinner today, 4 lots worth of gammon from the other day plus 2 lots of beef!
I also keep promising myself that we will have more veggie dinners but I never seem to actually get round to it!
Anyway, Mrs M, could I please be put down (AGAIN!) for £450 for August please which will be interesting as I have DD, DS and OH's birthdays all in that month!

No groceries bought today however made a lemon meringue cake today from store cupboard ingredients apart from the cream incl HM lemon curd made last weekend and free egg
Went down very well
The ham in cola went down a storm as usual and estimate getting at least 7 meals out of a £7.50 joint, so feel better about that extravagence, in fact aiming for 10 meals which is even better!
Fed 3 of us for lunch
Gave away 2-4 meals worth to take away
I'll put 2 meals worth in a pie with left over chicken
Use 2 meals worth in ham, cream and pea pasta
See what is left if anything!

Not been on much this month I'm afraid, and completely lost track of spends due to various circumstances (some within control, some not!). Will try harder next month
Can I be put down for £200 for August please? I will be on my holi-bobs for a week, but think I will include food spends there too as we will be self-catering.
Hope everyone else has smashed their targetsPart time GCer, NSDer, Comper and (Bad)FlyladyA big shot is just a little shot that kept shooting ...0 -
Well, I have completely blown the budget (i think i said that last week as well!) I'm now up to £286.09 out of a budget of £200 - the shame!!
On the plus side, I have spent the overspend either on necessities, or bargains, that were just too good to miss. Lots of toiletries from Asda, that will keep us going months. One thing I noticed which seemed a bit odd, in the Mr A store near to work they were selling 3*1 litre bottles of mouthwash for £8 (that will keep us going for the rest of the year), in the Mr A store near home they were selling the 1litre bottles for £4.98 each. Also I have stocked up on the jars of tropical fruit, DH takes some to work every day, he's decided he doesn't like the cheap stuff...ggrrr. I normally pay £1.77 a jar, but in Mr. A yesterday they were a £1, so I have well and truly stocked up on those.
I'm using up lots of bits out of the freezer, will have to use stuff up, and try to recoup some pennies. Right off now to put the choccy topping on the jaffa drizzle cake I made earlier, and to crush up the meringue I made and make some Eton Mess, been fancying that for ages.
