Good morning everyone,
going out for a cuppa with friends later so plan just to have a fry up for tea tonight, a grill up really if I am honest.
Hoping to use up some more table jelly and some tinned fruit this weekend and that will be another space in food mountain.
Stocked up on washing powder the other day so that should see me through the next couple of months.
Need to buy some milk and bread today so will be heading for ff.It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!0 -
I am very proud of myself!:rotfl:
We have actually used up all of the fruit bought and almost all of the veg - not a big deal for some but a mini triumph for me!
I have made myself use things in order that they need using not eating what I fancy and its worked for once!
Tonight I'll be making a 5 bean chilli to use up some mushrooms, onion and peppers leaving us just with some onions, peppers and jacket spuds in te fridge all of which still have plenty of life left in them and can "roll over" onto next weeks meals.
I have done a quick stock check and other than fruit, veg and milk I think we may have enough in for next week too.:T:T Off to tweak the meal plan - simple things seem to give me great pleasure lately (may be something to do with having very little cash:o).0 -

I DID go to Lidl last night, and saved quite a bit. But I misread the leaflet on one thing - I thought that the Chablis we like had been reduced to €5.99 a bottle (from 8.99), but that offer is next week. So I only got it for 8.10 a bottle (and I got 6). Oh well, it might be more that we currently spend on wine regularly, but it is nice, and I did get a reduction, and we will spread out its consumption.
I am now down to €65 left officially, until 31st. But I should need much on hols, and I am happy to go over slightly there as I have been good generally. And I know that we'll make it up in coming months with all the stuff in the cupboards.
Won't be on again for at least 10 days, so hope it stays sunny and you all keep doing OK!!GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

I have been extremely frugal this month and have £46.45 left over from my usual £120.00 'food purse'As I am going away on holiday in 20 days time I am going to see how far I can streeeetch what I have left out, instead of drawing any more cash from my bank account.I trawled through my freezer yesterday and have more than enough food in there to last so its only bread and fresh veg and a bit of fruit that I will have to buy.Fingers crossed I can manage it.out of those 20 days I shall be eating out for three of them at my Dds house so its really only 17 days, so it should be a doddle. We have all done wel this month I think .We should have a 'pat on the back ' sign that we could click on I think Well done everyone ,wish me luck0

Good luck Jackie O with stretching what you have left. I had dinner at my mum's today - it is great to get it cooked for you. As DH got paid today I did a shop at Mr M's and spent £26.28. I still need to do a food plan for the week/month but know I have plenty in for the next week or so with what is in the freezer & what I bought today.0

Gah. Spent £6.25 today on what seems like naff all! Doubting I can get in under my target, even that small shop came out at more than I had estimated it would be. We'll see what I can do, next weekend I'm away and not spending grocery budget money so that will probably help. This month was always going to be an expensive one for me anyway, however luckily the cupboards and fridge/freezer still seem pretty well stocked so hopefully I should be able to cut back in August and maybe September too to make up for it.0
