Spent another £15.90 today in Aldi, only went in for a loaf of bread, lol!I'm laughing thinking of your son swimming in the fountain. I want to go to the Tower too, especially because at the moment they have that exhibition of royal armour on. But it's Science Museum next and then maybe that the next time. We take lunch and do offers too, and we must keep away from the cafe! It's far too tempting to just get a tea and bit cake after a long day walking around, but you can see where they are making back the money they would otherwise have had in entrance fees!
It was funny, he was only 9 at the time and I'd told him to just paddle at the edge, as he didn't have a change of clothes or a towel, but he gradually went further out until he was under the fountain and got soaked, and then decided he might as well swim instead of just paddling, lol, never mind he really enjoyed it and he soon dried out as it was so hot!
I agree with you on the price of food in the cafes, DS and I were going to have something in the cafe at the Imperial War Museum one time, the cheapest thing they had was a piece of flapjack, about an inch square, for £2.50 and that was about 20 yrs ago, I couldn't justify spending that much so we didn't stay.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Spent 38.77 cos DD1 away for week and DD2/3 are away from sun eve ,dinner at mums.:T I bought me lots of berries cos I dont have to share them and I dont have to hide them either!!!!!
Might treat DD2/3 to lunch in Chi on Sat as DD1 on holiday.
Did get a £3 top sale and BOGOF book £5.99 as a gift from me to school as all girls have now left and they were very welcoming to us when we moved down here from London. Value card 24p:T
So this month I am well within budget and will put the balance towards lunch on sat.
AlthoughI have posted each time I shopped I didnt write down each weeks spend!!!!!!!!! So you will have to take it from me that I am within budget and will try harder next month to declare grocery bills I think i posted lots but not always the moneymum to Min Pops and Wiggy et al.

Hello all
I've been buying a few bits and pieces this week but haven't done a major shop. We're trying to clear some space in the freezer and also have been eating a big chicken for most of the week - very MSE;). Haven't got to the end of the month yet and need a supermarket trip soon. Think another chicken might be the way to go again this weekend + some more veggie meals. I've made a bean and rice salad which did 2 days - just added loads of chopped veg and today added some tinned sweetcorn to make it go a bit further. We've gone down a brand with crackers - DH always insisted on Jacobs but i bought some cheaper ones when we ran out and he has decided there really isn't much difference, if any.
Ok, off to read through the thread for inspiration. I always feel more prepared when I've read the GC and all your comments

That reminded me of my DP, years ago he wanted some Jaffa cakes, so I put some store own brand ones in the trolley, but he insisted on getting the Mcvities ones, and he couldn't understand why I wouldn't buy them. I explained that it was because the own brand were the same as the branded, and his response was 'well you might as well get the branded if they're the same'! When he tried the own brand he couldn't tell the difference, and still couldn't understand why I didn't get the branded, it took a long time for me to get it through to him that if they are the same you should get the cheapest, especially as I was a single parent on a very tight budget at the time. I'm happy to say he is now fully trained and knows to go for non-branded as much as possible, lol!Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Spent £25 on groceries in Morries today :-(
On the bright side, i now have 10 packets of grated cheese that were half price and perfect for jacket potatoes and pizza toppings. Also, i used my £5 Morries petrol voucher thing to buy the cheapest toaster they sell (£5.99).
Well chuffed!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

I've had 6 NSDs since last Thursday, but had to shop today as we were running low on milk (and DS finished his ice-cream last night)
Got 2x4pt milk from L!dl (they honoured the 2 for £2 as the sign was still up, but apparently this offer has finished), and also ice-cream for 99p
Then two packs of asparagus rissotto from B$M (total 58p)
2lb bananas from local grocer (59p)
The rest of the shop came from Mr M.
as I finished my shift :-
Cucumber that I forgot before work (actually didn't realise I was running short until I went to add salad to my lunch-time butty) and dessicated coconut and hazelnut pieces I needed for some baking I want to try
and after I'd been out with the running club (route home takes me past the store at a reasonable time for bakery Whoopsies) :-
4 pack of Sm@rtie Dougnuts, a Swiss Crown, a pack of 2 Almond Croissants, 2 loaves (one a regular I've not tried yet, the other the latest 'special flavour'), a long French Stick (for DS), and a tub of Whipping Cream. This lot (worth £6.65) cost me £2.35
also picked up 2 packs of Cicag0 T0wn Deep Dish Pepperoni Pizzas on BOGOF (£1.89). Ideal for when I leave DS to 'fend for himself' at a weekend, and something I realised after getting home from work I should have picked up for this weekend - so my excuse for going back to the store
Total spend today £12.19 (before staff discount, but £12.39 deducted from GC budget by the time I put odd pennies change into my sealed pot along with my staff discount)Cheryl0 -
Hello just about to add £100 to my total, we have done two shops since i last posted and I am rounding up so the spare change goes in the 'holiday fund' (which currently has about £2 in it haha!). Have told O/H that we really cannot shop again, and the only thing we might need in the next week is milk. He is begining to enjoy GC again, as we are already seeing that we are wasting less (although yesterday we had to throw away a small chicken breast...) and eating better.
We had HM chicken fajitas last night, and for tea tonight we are going to have a chicken curry, it feels like naughty takeaway but it is hm instead of costing ££££ from takeaway..nothing we didn't already know more we had forgotten! Going to make my milky cup of tea and then meal plan for the rest of the month! Hope everyone is managing ok, I shall now read back through the thread!!August: £149/£150
Sept: £200

This week's shop was £7.53 which was spent on f&v and a couple of boxes of tissues. I am way, way over budget this month and will have to try to keep to a smaller budget next month to catch up.
I shouldn't need anything else in the next few days - my new month starts on Wednesday.
Congratulations to everyone who has kept within budget :TDecluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0
