I would just echo what Southern Belle has said. Sometimes it is amazingly helpful to just listen and listen and listen and then say things like 'what do you think you should do?' There's SO much to deal with and SO much to process and it can really help to just be there and to guide (because it takes the stuffing out of people but they still have an idea on what they want to do!)

My friend lost her husband (heart attack) and everyone around her was super keen that she got back to work. Now she hated her job and her boss but she did need structure and to be 'needed'. So she arranged to go into school three days a week as a voluntary teaching assistant. It just gave her a bit of structure and a bit of responsibility but didn't make her have to deal with an unhappy workplace without her home support.

So there we are Skintdragon I think we've decided for you.

So sorry to hear your news, Skintdragon. Nothing to say that hasn't been said. The support from everyone here is very moving.

I heard yesterday that someone I used to work with had recently dropped dead on the squash court. He did marathons and Pennine walks and stuff, but it doesn't always seem to make a difference. At least one remembers them as vibrant and active.

Sorry not to have been around for a while generally. All is fine but I have been beset by boring stuff that needed doing.

Sorry to hear your news Mike. I just had a similar bit of news last week. Somebody recently said to me that "at my age" I am reaching the top of the ladder and we start to wonder who is next to drop off the end! Oh dear I dont want to be middle aged when in my my mind I am still 21.

We thought we best let you get on with the boring stuff that needed doing. We know how contagious procrastination can be.

I was innoculated against it but it really hasn't worked!

If only I could be that witty. I always think of the witty thing to say half an hour after I should have said it. :(

I'm fine really... just entertaining the black dog for a while. Some people have it a lot harder than me.

Best not to make any great claims or proclamations at such times... just taking it day by day.
