Some of my first posts on here may have been a little off-thread (what is that about?) but I was surprised by a reply hinting that I had been psycho-analysed and found wanting (which got 4 thanks.) Pretty disconcerting when you're totally new to forums. I'm wondering now if they thought I was really an AE or just inadequate.
All my posts are off-thread.
I think it should be made manditory for someone to be registered for at least two weeks before they can post. That way, they can have a read of what this place is really like. Then the likelihood of offence being taken on their first thread would be greatly reduced (although some will take offence at pretty much anyone who dares to question their judgement or behaviour, so maybe not).
Nothing's changed on here btw. It's always been like this - there are just different people nowadays and more of us. These boards are no less tolerant than they ever have been. It's just what happens when you get such an eclectic mix of people coming together."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Not just newbies. this site has become an extremley unpleasant place to be. I am leaving. Mr cow above is a principle protagonist. Why should people have to be registered for 2 weeks to learn how unpleasant people can be on here.0

lol - how am I that?
Are you leaving because others have a difference of opinion to you? That's not people being "unpleasant" - if you ask for opinions, then you need to accept that opinions are what you are going to get.
Anyway, if you've left, I doubt you'll read this. But goodbye anyhow"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

QED, re read your post it is unpleasant.
A difference of opinion is what makes us all different, it is how you put it across and you are unpleasant. No doubt you justify it by saying, I am blunt, I say it how it is.... No IRL I would certainly not talk to you at the school gate as no doubt you have a reputation for being not only a know it all, but giving opinions to people who don't want them from you.0
