Why do people be nasty to newbies?

I don't really want to post links to the threads I saw it on in case it looks like I'm singling people out, but I've seen it quite a bit. One example was someone asking something who hadn't posted before (it was a genuine question) then someone said something like !!!!!!, not this thread/question again. I don't think there is any need for it, not everyone is an expert on how forums work and would even know how to search them. Why can't they keep such comments to themselves? I do know that some newbies can be AEs or trolls, but usually I can spot these a mile off and haven't been on the site long, so surely others can too?

Secret Agent, when you get PPR'd, do they tell you which post was the reason for it or do you just get barred and thats that? I havent ever seen you post something that could be really offensive (or do you just post really rude stuff after midnight when Im tucked up in my bed?)

Edit: Has Wow/Wannabeloved been PPR'd again? If yes, who is he now. I like to keep abreast of matters now that Im not able to post very often.

I hope you don't mean me! I just posted a link on a thread started about 2nd, 3rd, 4th marriages to let the OP know this was discussed a few days ago. I didn't say !!!!!! though but I did think it........kidding:p

Oh no, didn't mean you OUAD, you've only been nice too as far as I've seen. To be honest, I'd have thought that the people who do it wouldn't even think twice about it because they're probably that used to being nasty, either in RL or just on here.
