 I'm actually crying.. what a !!!!!! year it's been.. I got made redundant 6 weeks ago, so no chance of fixing it, not that it would be worth it anyway.

Had a job interview on weds too, can't get there by public transport..

REALLY feeling sorry for myself now.

Thanks for the help everyone.. What do I do with the car now?

    Gemma

Just checked on Ebay. second hand engines going anywhere between 60 quid and 200 quid. A garage could fit it in a couple of hours.

    Got quoted £300 to fit.

I'm afraid I just don't have the money. I got made redundant and I'm just about surviving as it is.

    £80 for an engine swop.
    What garage do you use.

The AA guy got me to try to start it 3 times.. :(

I can't remember to be honest, the car behind me was blaring his horn at me, not a lot I could do but pull over as soon as possible.

I was pulling away from slowing down to 25mph, forgot to change gear and then it just went.. so I was prob doing 25-30mph... maximum, I may have had my clutch in trying to change gear, I just can't remember.

I have never been so grateful that I signed up with Green Flag. Was the AA man wearing a red nose, he was clearly a clown. If it had been alright before, Coco the AA Clown put paid to that.

Now you know why there breakdown cover is so cheap, they are to recovery services what the England team are to world class football :D

To be honest I want rid of it now. I don't have the time, patience or the desire to fix it. Let alone the fact that I have zero money.

I am hoping that someone on eBay will see the potential to earn a few quid repairing it and selling it.

It's worth between £1500-£1750 working, so if it would cost someone £500 to fix it then they might be willing to pay £500-£600 for it as it is. That is all I want now.

AA guy was nice enough, but I guess he didn't know his !!!! from his elbow because he said it is an easy job to fix. ha! - he got me home tho.

how can you tell whats wrong with it turning the engine over

you cant assume that every car that cuts out has snapped a cam belt (youd look a right plank spending 1/2 hour removing covers to find the belts intact.

the damage would have already been done

Well, I use a couple. One is a backstreet kinda garage, great guys tho. Another is a backstreet peugeot specialist, and the one I have quotes from is an accident repair centre (more mainstream).

Even if I get another engine, there is no guarantee that it will work.

After fixing it, I would want to sell it anyway as it's caused me a lot of hassle. I may aswell just sell it now.

It won't turn over at all.

I would love to get it looked at, but that will cost £200 odd and I don't even have £50 to spend on it.

I meant blt to be honest.
Two hours for an engine swop, it's a bit fast.
I think you're doing the best thing, sell, it, and see what you end up with.
I bought an excellent 106 diesel for £475 a few years ago, it's cost next to nothing since as well.

Get the tax off it as well. You'll lose another month on Wednesday.
