Oh dear, I'm not having a great life at the moment, and my cambelt has gone on my 206.

Any idea on the costs? I thought it might be about £150, but after looking on the t'internet it looks like it could have damaged the engine??

Please, can something good happen to me soon! :(

£150 will probably be the cost ot renewing it, so christ knows what it'll cost to repair anything...

Yes unfortunatley you will have bent 16 valves not 8!!
For a repair dont hope for much change out of £600 inc labour and thats if you get off likely. Sorry its not good news. second hand engine may be cheaper if you can get one.

Chances are very high you have valve damage and it wont be cheap to repair,Id say at least £1000 if valves are bent

    It will be expensive.

You will need a new cambelt (obviouusly). Chances are some (if not all) the valves got damaged when the belt snapped (they will have hit the head and bent due to no resistence). You will also need to get the head 'skimmed' (depending on if its aluminium or steel)

So for a start, you will need a cambelt, up to 16 new valves, possibly the cylinder head skimmed and you will also need new stretch bolts when its all put back together.

Is the cam belt the same as the timing belt?
Only mines due changing as mines done 76k.(I'm away with the Army next week so a mate in REME workshops is going to service my car while I'm away, cheaper than a garage,he can do it at his own time & if it goes wrong,I know where the !!!!!! works!lol)

    Oh !!!!!! :(

    I'm gutted..

The car is worth £1500-£1600 and it already needs some bushes doing at the back which I've been quoted £400.

I don't know what else to add..

Is it possible that I have got away with no damage? Or is that wishful thinking?

It is possible, but highly unlikely. In fact, if you have got away with no damage, I would buy a lottery ticket!!
