Best to always be honest. I think Bad Credit also is a good answer because you are aware of the need of actually rebulding and repairing.

Hi, Im wondering if anyone can help.
my dad wants a new card, he currently has the sainsburys card with a 2k limit, home owner, no mortgage, no other loans, halifax reward acc with 1000 OD.
I went to confused.com with him and they had that pre-application checker, said the chance of getting a blarclaycard platinum was 9/10, but the application was referred, he then tried John Lewis when I wasnt around and was declined.
I obviously dont want him to apply for hundreds, anyone know what would be a good card for him? the comparison sites seem to generate sponsored results.
thanks0 -
Well I couldn't resist and tried for a third Sygma card 2 weeks ago (The Creation Card) - it referred. I thought I'd pushed my luck too far.
Today - on the doormat was the card!
£2,000 limit and 16.9% APR, which is confusing seeing as they only offer 2 rates on their application section - 18.9 and 24.9% ... Not that I'm complaining!
I'm gonna stop nowI spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
what other sygma cards do you have? and whats your file like?0

FlyBe and MaxiMiles. Gone from no credit card 6 weeks ago to 3 cards with £6,500 between them.
My Experian file has 1 default with 12 months left on it, my Equifax file is clear.
12 months ago Sygma wouldn't touch me as my files were littered with CCJ's and defaults (that were run up by an ex without my knowledge and spend AGES getting wiped from my file)... they seem to love me now!!I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. With Halifax Clarity is a competitive exchange rate applied?
For example when I was abroad the other week I got alcohol for 70 euros (they were also giving an English price of £68, which was worse than the exchange rate than I got!). So do I insist they process it as 70 euros on my card, and then Halifax would treat it just like an English transaction would be, with their conversion rate on that day? So I'd get the 52 days interest free and would be charged £60 odd on the card and that's all?
If that's the case it sounds much better for the shops which will accept card without charging extra. Can't help thinking their exchange rate may be shocking though, anyone used it? Other providers would charge a fortune, Halifax would take a right hit if they had a really competitive rate...0 -
well toay i got my id proofs back from capital one and informing me i should get a response within 7-10 days no agreement to sign
i assume its a decline as other people have had to sign one before getting the card. oh well i wonder if i should try vanquis. i think i tried too soon to start off rebuilding my credit file. My bank accounts have only just appeared on my credit file so maybe afew green ticks may have pushed me over the accept criteria. that is three searches i have on my file would one more hurt ?0 -
oh i spoke too soon just got my pin through the post for the capital one credit card. Funny how i didn't have to sign forms although i did it during the online application. very pleased as it looks like i'm getting back on the credit ladder.0

Well done. If you call them they'll be able to advise your credit limit.
