do you really think the ppi is an advantage let us know how you get on it'll be awhile for me as i haven't even recieved the we need further proofs letter i got that info over the phone today. what id did you send ? and i assume its the first page of the passport you send the one with the photo ?
Will be sure to let you know how I got on, gonna give them a call on Wednesday.

The letter will ask you to send them two forms of ID from table A or one from table A and one from table B. The letter will tell you if you can send them photocopy's or not.

And yes you right, you can send them a photocopy of your passport but the bank statement needs to be original.

I sent them a photocopy of my passport and a Nationwide Cash Builder statement. As the passport was a photocopy I signed it, not sure if you need to but I choose to.

I applied on the 12th of June so it should take a little shy of a month to know if you're gonna get the card or not.

Glad to hear you managed to get everything sorted with the Halifax - Good feeling! :T:beer:

Guess what? Got accepted for an HSBC account! They did search Experian, but it took 3 days to show up. They just wanted a signature specimen so went in with it, rather than posting it off.So they used Experian and Equifax for my current account application.

    Happy days! Well done :o

What's your credit file like? Have you asked them about overdraft offers? They gave me £1K with my account.

Thankfully my files are in very good order, taken a while to get them like that! I've gone for HSBC Advance, didn't think they used two credit agencies:o If they offered an overdraft, just something small as I'm too frightened to get in debt again. I have a Halifax Clarity card which is excellent, used when I've been on holiday and no added fees.
I've had a Halifax Reward account, so don't want to close it, will see how it goes with HSBC.
  • erm, I applied to capital one 4 days ago (well, thats when I emailed myself the application number)

I got impatient and called this afternoon, as I was declined in March, I didnt have much hope

but the guy said it was accepted n something was sent to me

but he kept saying provisionally accepted, if they send me an agreement or something, can they then look again at the application and decline it?

because that would be a pain

    Hey,

What he means is you haven't fully been accepted yet, the letter will ask you to send them in ID.

Or if they can check your identity electronically then they'll send you an agreement to sign.

Bear in mind, even when you sign the agreement it doesn't mean you *have* the card, once you return the agreement phone up a couple of days later and ask.

In most cases if they ask for ID or send you an agreement to sign you are gonna get the card.

    Hope it all works out.

After nearly a month of sending ID/signing agreements and waiting I have been accepted for Capital One Classic.

Got the pin today and the card is to follow. Only a £200 limit but that is far better than nothing.

Hopefully in 12 months I'll be able to get a reward credit card.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the people that have helped me. :)

When applying for Capital one classic. It asks what the card will be used for, and another question asks rate my own credit rating....my rating is bad. So should I just be honest? Also I dont know which method would go better on an application, balance transfer etc?

Tell the truth, I selected the option of reparing bad credit. Got the card. Something like Balance Transfer which in your case would be a lie, would also be stupid if its a Classic your after, because the BT is at 34.9.

Best to always be honest. I think Bad Credit also is a good answer because you are aware of the need of actually rebulding and repairing.

I got a Capital One Classic today with a £750 limit, was pretty content with that as I also recently got a Barclaycard Gold with £2000 limit :)

My credit history isn't terrible but it isn't great either, and I had been declined in the past by several other places.
