Has anyone any experience with applying for Captial One? I just got to the stage where I had to put my name on the online credit agreement as a signature and it now says

"One of our team will now perform additional checks, which typically take 7 working days. In a small number of cases we may need more information to complete your application - if so, we'll write and let you know.

If your application is successful, we'll be sending you your Card as soon as possible. Your PIN number will be posted to you separately."

How likely is it that I'll be rejected after this?

Mr Tomato - I had the very same message when making my application and I received a card in about ten days. many years ago, i received a letter declining me so it really does depend. My last application was made a year and half after being discharged from bankruptcy so there is no set rule unfortunatley.

The default was back in October 2002, and it came off the credit files in 2008. But I went and applied but there is no search on Experian, Callcredit etc. I think if my name picks up on their internal records that I defaulted back in 2002, they don't even bother doing a credit search:o Sort of a 'super decline' oh well keep with Halifax, got a full current account and a Clarity credit card!

Glad to hear you managed to get everything sorted with the Halifax - Good feeling! :T:beer:

Well looked on Equifax and HSBC have done a credit search! It was done on the 30th! Didn't think they used Equifax for current accounts.

I believe the Classic is. Progress harder to get because interest rate falls when managed correctly. It goes from a sub-prime product to a decent mainstream product.

    Hi

Do you know which credit reference agency Aqua used when you applied?

This info would be useful to put on the CRA thread.

    Many thanks

Aqua searched Experian (eclusively) when myself, my OH, and my flatmate applied; just like any other Halifax card :o

EDIT: The "Pre-check" also does a soft search with Call Credit.
