Will probably start using this card and just keep the Granite at home :) (although I like that they do give you the 50 odd days to pay your bill if you time it right, Cap1 seem to only give you 30 days and take the money!!)

I am pretty sure all cards give up to 50 days to pay your bill from the statment creation date to payment due. I hope to take advantage of te 0% intro offer with Cap1 and clear my Barclaycard Gold of a month earlier and cut down the interest charge. I wasnt really on going for a Cap1 card just sponteanous one day and turns out to be blessing 500 interest free till the payment due date in November. Will have it cleared by then and use it for green zeros along with the 2 Barclaycard that will also be clared from interest charges.
  • Finally the card arrived today, confirmed 500 opening limit, and 0% on all purchases until the date after the October Statement. The Capital One Classic Card is rather sleek looking as well. Does not look sub-prime at all.

    Hi...

Does anybody know how long banks keep records of closed or defaulted accounts?

I went bankrupt in 2009 - so all my accounts were defaulted and closed.

I recently caught a glimpse of my profile at Barclays recently - and all of my previous accounts still appear.

Will I ever get a fresh profile? :o

    Many thanks

in 2002/03 I defaulted with HSBC, have been with Halifax a while and was thinking of going back to HSBC! Was wondering if they will still have me on their ''hit'' list of get lost!
I thought they could only keep 6 years on record?

I dont think there is a limit to how long they can keep internal data on you?

If the Default is now more than 6+ years and has been removed from your Credit Report as long as everything else seems up-to-date you *should* not have any issues.

BUT, if it's still on your Credit Report then don't bother. My only default was from HSBC and they can still see this on my Customer Profile, they would not even give me a Basic Bank Account due to this - Not fussed anyways - Found a better bank after I moved the nest Lloyds.

Re: Will a second CC improve my credit score?

    Hi...

I currently have a Vanquis card which was opened 6 months ago.

I am planning to apply for a current account in 6 months (have a basic a/c at the moment) - as hoping that my credit score will improve enough by then.

Question is, would an additional credit card (Aqua - if they accept me) improve my credit score in 6 months time?...

Or will it not make any difference?

I don't want or need another credit - so will only apply if it will help with my credit score... My aim is to get a full current account in 6-12 months time.

Any advice would be great! Thanks :o

Thanks Paul, well I applied and checked my Experian report and there is no search showing. So if my name is still on their bad books, even though it's about 8 years on, no chance!

The default was back in October 2002, and it came off the credit files in 2008. But I went and applied but there is no search on Experian, Callcredit etc. I think if my name picks up on their internal records that I defaulted back in 2002, they don't even bother doing a credit search:o Sort of a 'super decline' oh well keep with Halifax, got a full current account and a Clarity credit card!
