I have a notification from Equifax saying my JDW limit is down to £0 (I asked them to close it.....). Does that mean it's closed? I was expecting more along the lines of "your account has been settled" or something... rather than a credit limit slash......
So is the A&L Premier Under 21 account treated like a proper current account in their eyes even though it's kind've a older "kids" one? So eventually I could get their CC? I see you need 7.5k income according to the card app, that's less than Barclaycard demand! Don't know if it takes your data with A&L into account though (as it sends you to Santander to apply for the card.... that's obviously the same group but don't know if they would recognise or look for my A&L history?)0 -

From what I've read Santander are very strict and stingy with limits. Whilst A+L being a mere brand of Santander means that they will consider your current account running, expect a greater chance of decline and pathetic limit if approved, not to mention the dire CS and possibility of loosing your CC application
Mightn't it be worth asking Natwest to convert your Student current account into a Current Plus account and applying for their "regular" credit card in a few months time?Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Hi
I am in the process of rebuilding/or building my credit score. Previously ( a number of years ago) had debt problems - paid them off and then had no credit!!
My credit score via credit expert was very low.
I now have an easycash account at Halifax, Marisota credit limit is now £700 (£48 owed), The Shoe Tailor credit limit is £200 (£22 owed and am sure the credit limit will be due to be increased soon) and J D Williams credit limit of £125 (£0 owing).
Where should I look next to apply for something to improve my credit? And also when - or rather how long in between applications?
Thank you xxxx0 -

Hmmm that's an option I guess, don't want to lose the railcard though haha. I have 2 accounts with them (that were originally step/plus/whatever accounts years ago). Basically for kids it worked out better to save in one of those than to save in a savings account the bloke at the time told me (as I couldn't get an ISA). I'm going to go have a look if my 2nd account is a step (or adult equivalent) or full account.... if it's full I guess I'd be moved over easier, then I could just close the student CC (but keep the student account) and wait (8 months I think they told me!)....
Just gotta try and get into online banking again.... wish me luck, I can't remember that damn new customer number they gave me :mad:0 -
Is it 3 or 6 months before you can reapply for vanquis0

6 months for vanquis0

Account Name: Adapt
Account type: CURRENT PLUS
The name is what I gave it in online banking, so it looks like I've got http://www.natwest.com/personal/current-accounts/g1/regular-current-account.ashx
So now I can just close the Student Credit Card and wait? Then use the current plus account rather than the student account (well, as well as I guess, because I need to qualify for my railcard by using the student account!). The 2nd account has been sat at 0 balance for months, if not years.... since I was allowed an ISA at 16 I gave up on it...
What kind of activity do I need? I guess if I move a few of my Credit Card direct debits over to it, withdraw cash on that account (?), use the debit card online for anything but betting and leave the balance at a few hundred maybe? Or would being in the Student overdraft to do that kill me?Is it 3 or 6 months before you can reapply for vanquis
Argh.... I hate Alliance.... They've just lost my money... grrr! It's going through a slow transfer.... it's only £500!! Halifax faster payments limit is 2.5k! Alliance have £249.99.... Useless!0 -
Got my 2 letters this morning regarding barclaycard applications..
BARCLAYCARD PLATINUM....
Thankyou for applying for barclaycard platinum, unfortunately at this stage we are not able to consider your application because you've only been an barclaycard account holder for a short time..
BARCLAYCARD GOLD....
Thankyou for applying for a barclaycard
Because you already have the type of barclaycard account theat you applied for,we are unable to accept your application, however we may be able to offer you an alternative product.0 -
I'm expecting a cheque for my personal injury claim in the very near future but was relying on this to pay for my car insurance. So just now, I've had to put my car insurance (£800) on my BOS credit card and plan to clear it the moment the cheque pops through the letterbox.
My credit card balances are slightly higher than I'm comfortable with due to unexpected expenses recently so I've used my savings to clear my Flybe and Silver cards, which had a few hundred on them. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Natwest credit card gone... they don't do much to try and keep you do they!? O2 and co you've really gotta fight with! He asked the reason and when I said because my limit is £350 and they won't put it up he was like "ok, that's fair enough".
Now just got to wait before I can reapply...0
