    Hi Mate

Further to your advice I rang HSBC telephone banking today.. asked the question "can you tell me if I am eligible for an overdraft" The guy said he had to confirm my details etc..he asked how much did I want? As the account was only opened 09/04/2010 I didn't want to push it so asked for £250....he put me on hold and come back on and said it had been agreed and would show straight away....

he then said the system is also showing you have been accepted for our credit card with a £1000 limit 0% 15 month balance transfer would you like this sir? Thought it would be rude not to accept...have to go in a branch and sign the agreement though is this standard procedure?

I was declined a Credit Card £500 limit when I opened the account so this kind of breaks the 6 month to re-apply rule?

Thanks for the advice N-I-D and it seems even after almost 3 months of good account conduct they have offered me credit facilities
I am hoping this sorta scenario might just happen to me.

    Congratulations!!

Do you have any negative data on your credit files?

I think i'll have to wait longer than you for an OD. Properly the full 6 months, maybe longer. :o

No negative data, just 11 months credit history...

HSBC done an unrecorded search today on call credit ONLY?

As NID said only unrecorded. I wonder what they see different between a "full" and an "unrecorded" search.

    Always wondered. Probabaly nothing.

    Hi matey

Ok, that actually makes sense to me.... that means that you must have been bordering the pass score for the card/od when you originally opened the account and as a result of you calling today, they have performed a full credit search on you. The thing is you can be accepted even though you're within the time frame, cos they have invited you to apply - point is, in August they'd have offered it you as well - what they done today was an account review so it would have listed everything you were entitled to - that is done via an external score so the limits and pass would have had nothing to do with any internal behaviours. The 6mth thing is also covered cos they can override the original application with a pass on this one, as they know what they're doing in the call centres usually (good commission so i'm told)!

Oh and as for the full search, they usually do this and down downgrade it to an enquiry if accepted.

    Well done btw :T
    :o 2010 - year of the troll :o

Lloyds TSB are getting weird... Now that I've got a 'spensive phone I want insurance... Three would sell it to me for £10 a month. Had a look on LTSB site and they do it.

Weird thing is they let me upgrade to a Gold account on my online banking and said my Gold debit card will be with me soon... What? I thought I had a CPD?

Strange folk, LTSB. I'll post up a pic when the card arrives :o
