I've had 3 calls this month from HSBC trying to get me to upgrade to one of their monthly fee accounts - an account that carries benefits which include "Money-saving travel and leisure offers" and "Online fraud tools". Who wants to pay £13 a month for a year for some travel offers and fraud tools which already protect me?We’ve had to remove your signature. No it's because it has hands down the best telephone customer services available on the market and some of the best mortgage and savings rates on the market.
My biggest pet peeve is customer services teams that are either foreign, unknowledgeable, not open when I need them to be, or sat behind a 20p a min number when called from my mobile.
The cards they send me can be handwritten with biro on sticky back plastic for all I care...Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I just called First Direct to ask about my application as I hadn't heard anything this week. It was declined. I'm going to write an appeal letter today. We’ve had to remove your signature. How is your file looking...have they given you the reason. I think the appeal with FD will be difficult...
They said I didn't fit the criteria they were looking for. However, during my application, I used my NatWest bank details as I've been with them for 4 years. If I had used my HSBC details, they would have been able to look at my account conduct with them but that has only been open for the last 6 months.
In my appeal, I'm going to send them my HSBC bank statement which may help.
My credit file is perfect in the sense that there's no missed payments, defaults etc and shows that I've never once paid minimum payment, it's always been more than the minimum. We’ve had to remove your signature. I don't think that the HSBC account would have made any difference, maybe you just don't fit the profile of customer they are looking for at the moment....0

I agree, I don't think appealing to them will help much but I have nothing to lose.I don't think I've ever read about someone appealing a FD decision so my experiences in doing so may help someone else, if successful or not.

Dude gutted sorry to hear that. I wish you well with the appeal
Don't think I'll bother trying with FD for a good few years yet then; if you can't get it with your impeccable credit file they certainly won't be touching me with a bargepole whilst the discharged BR is still on my credit file.
Oh on a potentially amusing note; Lloyds TSB have frozen my account. I was... "rather seasoned" last night and my friend pressed #500 (typed it in rather) in the cash point. Had it available; wish I didn't... #480 more than I'd ever taken out in one transaction in my life; they suspect fraud.
Oops.
Need to go in later with ID (and booze breath) and say it was me; here's the cash...
Still have #480 of it left though it didn't all go behind the barCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I received a credit limit increase this morning from Vanquis from £250 to £500. Thing is, I've been a terrible customer! The first year of me having the card was pretty !!!!!, I used to go over it and pay late etc. The last year I have been working hard to get it under its limit, pay on time etc and its all been good but why on earth have they increased it when I don't exactly have a great history with them?Thinking it over...:o0
