Just thought I'd drop by and let everyone know how I'm doing.

Sygma cards and Barclaycard paid off and closed.

I applied for a Cap 1 progress just to see how my Experian file was doing (as this shows many more nasties than Equifax) and was instantly approved so I headed over to HSBC's website...

Now have HSBC current account, called today to see if I was given pre-approved lending limits, have 1,000 OD and 1,500 credit card.

Glad to see the back of Sygma, Barclaycard, and LTSB. When I called to close my Sygma cards I overheard another call centre agent taking the p!ss out of people with surnames of the same nationality of mine, quite loudly and grossly so definitely a sign I was doing the right thing leaving them.

Barclaycard are just a joke CS wise.

LTSB have put up with a lot of !!!!!! from me to be fair to them and been generous but just can't get over the whole CPD bull I went through with them earlier in the year.

HSBC from here on in then! Happy times :D

    Hows everyone else?
    Nice to see you back
I thought that you were waiting until next year to open Hsbc when you had 3 years of credit history.

    Yeahman I was gonna wait.

But after I got instant approval online for the Cap 1 Progress (which is marketed towards those with a "good" score) I figured it couldn't hurt to give HSBC a whirl prematurely.

I was very surprised to see HSBC accept me with only 30 months of perfect history but I suppose it was enough for them...

I guess they must have loosened their criteria. Hey ho, I'm happy with the result :D

I can't wait to make my first deposit of the balance of my LTSB account as I'll make a point of speaking to the d!ck that patronised me at the beginning of last year with his smarmy "sir we don't offer accounts to people with credit histories like yours". Might go up to him asking to apply, wait for him to try and hide his laughter and then present my debit card and pipe up "I believe there's a credit card agreement for me to sign, too?".

Thanks for the welcome back :D

EDIT: Star-fire - you might want to add to your sig "but not as much as maxed out cards"...

Srsly when my credit usage dropped to like 2% all and sundry were saying yes... Even Zopa offered me a loan at 12.9%...

When I applied for HSBC I had three searches on Experian in six months and seven on Equifax in six months... not a gargantuan amount but certainly above average.

    Next step.... First Direct. :D

I was inspecting my credit report yesterday and noticed that First Direct searched me in Jan and beside it, it said 'Time at address: 0 years 0 months'. Perhaps I made an error on my application by entering 0's instead of the real time. I reapplied.

    Nah, sooner I reckon.

I've been tempted to call them to see if a decision has been made but I only applied yesterday evening so I highly doubt it.

  • Why do you guys put so much weight behind First Direct?

As though it is some kind of trophy that says you are now credit worthy lol its a wee bit pathetic TBH.................

Because someone has put it in their head that it is the best bank when clearly that is just not true.

It is as though you get a certificate with the account to say you are now a "decent" member of society because you have a First Direct bank account, I have seen a few people on here get all excited about it lol and never understood why, they are a bank like any other bank no difference really that I can see..............
