natwest do it fast i had my new cards in 5 days did you do it by Deed Poll i did it back in 1995
Shocking, they took long enough to send me a card in my current name! (And managed to spell my first name wrong on 1 card!).

I'm doing it by Deed Poll yep. Not getting my driving license done until Christmas though, otherwise I'll have to take my new passport out for ID on uni nights out and that'll be lost in no time! I'm keeping hold of my old student ID card, so I'll use that and my current/old driving license and clubs/bars will never know :D As I'm not driving, nobody can do me for not changing it quickly.... :p

Or I was thinking of telling DVLA I "lost" it, but then they charge you 20 quid when they change it... if you send your old one back it's free
  • passport are rip off as you have to pay the full fee to change it

It's daylight robbery. The whole point of the fee was to cover the costs of the interview, setting up the passport, staffs time and the matierals.

If all they are doing is changing the name, they should charge only for the actual passport paper.

Same for renewing. They are robbing !!!!!!!s. By the time it comes to renewal, the fee will have tripled.

I can understand it to some extent, the fee for the biometrics must be quite hefty, especially the eye scanners they have at Heathrow (got to use them in the summer :D) but for a name change it's pretty shocking to charge the full fee, same goes for replacements.

I was shocked DVLA is free if I send back my current license. £20 if I say I lost it is annoying, but they have to guard against people abusing their lost ones by changing their details I suppose....

And my passport interview was such a waste of time too :rotfl:

He hasn't been around for a few weeks but he usually pops in now and again. You're studying BSc Computing? Me too, well BSC Hons Computing. It sucks, I hate computers.

That looks a good blog :)

    And Computing.... Good luck :p

I was on Computing until a few weeks ago... now I'm on Accounting & Finance.... got Computer Labs in a minute though, but it's ridiculously basic to make sure everyone knows what they're doing - obviously I'm sorted so days like today I can just turn up and practically sleep :p

I assume keeping a balance in an account is a good thing? Or does it only matter up to a certain level and above that it won't do any extra good? I've got about 4.5k now in the Halifax one (Reward Current Account, so my internal score must be flying up based on last month...) now that Student Finance have decided to pay me! I'm thinking of just leaving it there for a while (unless I need it of course). I've only got £100 in Natpest :rotfl: Given up on them, otherwise I'd split it equally.....

Hello, hope this is in the right thread, im interested to see if anybody has had any similar problems with santander..

basically i used to have a bank account with alliance and leicester this was closed in june 2008 as i declared myself bankrupt.. i recieved a letter from a&l confirming this...

In august this year a santander account appeared on my credit files.. i have contacted them and they have advised me they have an open current account carried over from a&l..

i have sent an email complaint to santander asking them to remove the information from my credit file and close the account with a copy of the letter from a&l attached.. i have not applied for it and do not wish to bank with them..

its been over a month now and i have only recieved a response to say it will be forwarded onto the relevant department to look into....

so just wondering really where i stand with this to get the infomation removed? and how to follow it up with santander...

any advice/ help greatly appreciated. cheers

Santander's customer services is quite bad so I'd expect to wait some time for a reply. Try giving them a call to see if they've received your letter, maybe someone over the phone can deal with this issue more quickly?

Just curious, why do you want the account closed? Keeping it open may actually benefit you and help towards rebuilding your credit history.

Just thought I'd drop by and let everyone know how I'm doing.

Sygma cards and Barclaycard paid off and closed.

I applied for a Cap 1 progress just to see how my Experian file was doing (as this shows many more nasties than Equifax) and was instantly approved so I headed over to HSBC's website...

Now have HSBC current account, called today to see if I was given pre-approved lending limits, have 1,000 OD and 1,500 credit card.

Glad to see the back of Sygma, Barclaycard, and LTSB. When I called to close my Sygma cards I overheard another call centre agent taking the p!ss out of people with surnames of the same nationality of mine, quite loudly and grossly so definitely a sign I was doing the right thing leaving them.

Barclaycard are just a joke CS wise.

LTSB have put up with a lot of !!!!!! from me to be fair to them and been generous but just can't get over the whole CPD bull I went through with them earlier in the year.

HSBC from here on in then! Happy times :D
