I saw an offer on totally money for a Capital 1 classic card with 1% purchase cashback. This sounds really good as I was thinking of the classic card anyway. Sounds a bit too good to be true though, I thought cashback cards were normally hard to get and I haven't seen anyone talking about the offer on here. What do you guys think? Thanks
Looks like it is actually true!! Must be a new feature...

Hi chaps,
quick silly question - if I've only got about the last 2.5 years on the electoral roll, and have been at current address just 6 months or so (maybe as few as 4 on the roll), how much of an issue generally is this?
I've got a couple of cards but they're only 6-8 months old (vanquis and Lloyds TSB platinum), & was thinking I might need to wait until I've got 3 years on the roll before e.g. amex platinum or some other cashback card would do anything other than auto-reject?
If you have moved 4 different addresses in the last 2.5 years, then it is highly likely you will struggle to get accepted by the mainstream lenders. Amex platinum is the high end credit card and they generally look for customers with a WELL established credit history and evidence of stability...
2.5 years or even 3 years is not really a well established credit history... generally 5 years plus would be seen as having an "established credit history".

It does not appear in the "Offers for you" section of my online banking , although I already have Halifax credit cards so they probably do not see me as a customer "missing out on a product"
Loans appear on my "offers for you" section "Whatever you're planning our great value loans at 9.9% APR typical could help. Borrow £7,000 - £15,000 over 1 to 7 years – apply online now for an instant decision."
If you are greeted with an offer as soom as you log on and before you can see your account balances , then I suspect that this is more targetted than the "offers for you" offers
I have been offered a websaver in this manner , but no credit products
Thanks, yeah it did appear as soon as I logged in. I might ring them about it as a Halifax Clarity would be great for travelling (plus the £5 reward), but then I personally would look at my credit report and deem myself overcommitted so I'm still not convinced it's targeted!0 -

Targeted based on account conduct rather than CRA dataHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Halifax people had a heavy weekend I think.... When it came to updating my account today they clearly made an error :rotfl:
Surely they'll take me for a credit card now!?!? (Well in Feb after 6 months has gone....). At first I read it was £170 (I was distracted) and thought what use is that, but 1.7k! And Natpest won't give me another couple of hundred, clowns lol. Still no decent offers for me though

Ah, so I'm past the first hurdle but I'll probably get credit checked as well - which I reckon will result in a no!0 -

Good afternoon all
I've viewed this thread on a few occasions but only just set up an account so that I can ask for an opinion on my 'credit' position.
I went into a Debt Management scheme back in 2005. I was issued with a few defaults in 2004 and a CCJ in 2005.
As of now, the defaults have gone but the CCJ won't clear until early October 2011. I have three subprime credit cards.
Capital 1 - £100 limit - opened in March 2009.
Vanquis - £500 limit - opened in October 2009.
Aqua - £650 limit - opened in October 2009.
I have never missed a payment on each account.
I have a Lloyds Basic bank account (i.e debit card/cashcard - no cheque book or overdraft facility).
I have an Orange contract mobile that I have never missed a payment on since inception which was around August 2008.
I am employed full time.
I have been on electoral register since 2005.
So, once the CCJ drops off next October, what is the likelihood I'll be accepted for mainstream credit cards and if I apply to get my Lloyds account upgraded to a standard account, will this be a formality?
Thanks in advance.0
