I'm starting to get paranoid now. I made a faster payment from HSBC to RBS and it went through immediately, so I made another faster payment and it has left my HSBC account but seems to have gone walkies as it hasn't arrived. It's been 2 hours.

Just to give you guys an update. I ended up applying sending Smile a secure message asking if I was eligible for a Credit Card. Spoke to one of their personal bankers and they said that based on their internal score I was eligible for a CC (upto 4.5k), a loan (upto 15k) and an overdraft (upto 2k).

I declined the loan and overdraft for now and proceeded with a CC application. I asked him directly whether my app would have a high chance of success and he said based on the the information he had, I would be accepted (I had informed the bank of my IVA and that I had completed it).

Waiting for paperwork to come through, fingers crossed!!

Well for the next 4 years until your default falls off you are a very high risk when it comes to lending.
I don't think that's true as I had NO credit history whatsoever until Feb this year apart from the default! :D

I applied for a couple of things and they all went through :) I haven't applied for a credit card though so don't know if that would go through or not and I'm not about to apply right now until after Christmas I think!

does anyone know why, when I applied for a Next account it says I have a limit of £150 but when I go to buy some good it tells me

'As a new customer, help us confirm your identity. Please use, a Credit or Debit Card registered to the account holder's address to pay for this order.' ?

will this change? does this mean I aint been fully accepted yet?

    Hi chaps,

quick silly question - if I've only got about the last 2.5 years on the electoral roll, and have been at current address just 6 months or so (maybe as few as 4 on the roll), how much of an issue generally is this?

I've got a couple of cards but they're only 6-8 months old (vanquis and Lloyds TSB platinum), & was thinking I might need to wait until I've got 3 years on the roll before e.g. amex platinum or some other cashback card would do anything other than auto-reject?

Next requires that some new customers pay for their first order using a debit card before they'll be allowed to use the credit limit.

I didn't have to do this, but a family member did.

After you've paid for your first order using your card, you'll be able to use your credit limit. It does mean you've been fully accepted, I guess this is just another security check.

    Are you on the E/R?

Well.... in the end I got declined by my bank (smile) for a CC .

    Then I got a decline from Cap1 too.. :(

Guess I'll just wait a year until all my defaults drop off.
