Those Experian clowns have replied, absolutely pathetic, and they think quoting parts of different bits of legislation will shut me up, erm no! And they've refunded my money to a non active credit card, so now got to see if Natpest want to give it back to me, I doubt it knowing them!

Apparently they are following 'industry standards' in being completely unreasonable, if that's the case why haven't Equifax blocked me? They are both in the same industry, and both know about it, so somehow I think that's rubbish... Then they quote the DPA which states that the data controller isn't obliged to give access to the data held if they aren't REASONABLY satisfied with the information an application gives and their identity.... so I've emailed back asking how declining to see my University registration (proof I need to be 3 hours away) or student card or my passport, driving license, national insurance number (not ID on my own but I'll chuck it in anyway), credit cards, CCAs, statements and phone contracts means they're asking for reasonable information. Complete clowns the lot of them!

I am also writing to them and complaining to the ICO. I order my statutory credit report every three to four months and every single time they ask me to send ID.

When I send ID it is my driving licence, and they always reply asking form my passport. I am so fed and tired of their attitude. I've told them I am not sending a copy of my passport. Take the driving licence or leave it. If I get a passport it is for travel abroad, not for experian. Usually they accept my complaint and send the credit report, but I am tired of having to write the very same complaint time and time again.

Now I will ask them why do they ask me for any ID at all. I make frequent orders of my credit file. Send the ID as required. And then, I order one, tow or three months later and same thing. Why on earth don't they keep on file of copy of my ID and send the reports? They are always ordered to the same address and name.

So the difference is that if I pay for their credit expert thing, they will just ask me once for ID and then I will be able to order as many reports as I want as long as I pay the monthly fee...

How can they stand for this sh*t? You pay their stupid fees and there is no need to send ID ever again. You order the statutory report, they make no money and they try to make thing as difficult as they can. No way, I want them to explain this to me and to the ICO.

Why don't they do as equifax and open an online account with an username and password where you can order your statutory report as often as you wish?

So even if I get hold of my report (I've complained and said in my last 3 emails I want it esculated, but judging by the job description on the bottom of the emails it hasn't been - idiots!) I'll have this fun to look forward to every time? Brilliant....

I've asked them about Equifax twice, they ignored the first one! I said that as I've ordered a report online surely they can reactivate my accuont and allow me to access my report on there - therefore any so called "security" issues they have won't matter as once they verify my payment and I login through my username & password they've done all they reasonably could.... If I try to login now it wants me to reactive my membership!

If I reactivate it, take the report and then cancel it can I do a chargeback on them if they then try and take the money 30 days later? :D Was thinking of doing it with my Halifax kids account then 'losing' the card.... Know CCAs can still be active though a card is lost though :(
  • Just for general information I only hold a basic Cash card account with Halifax, though the OH and myself have a joint account there where we pay in over £1000 a month, Had these both for around two and a half years.

Last year Halifax refused to uprate my account, hence I moved to NatWest, so my cash card account is pretty much dormant, keep a bit of money running through it just to keep the account live. However we kept the Joint accont going, for bills etc.

Out of the blue on the internet banking I got a message saying we are offering you a credit card, guaranteed acceptance. I applied thinking yeah right, but it came through, and no credit check whotsoever.

Im thinking having the joint account with the OH who has perfect credit history has piggy backed this card to me. To say the least I was extremly surprised as Cap1 said no about 8 months ago.

I've applied a few times for a Halifax credit card that showed in my offers section of online banking and they always refused me. They didn't say it was guaranteed, though.

Curiously enough, I have been a few months with no credit card offers there, then I closed an old easycash account I had with them and there are again offers of credit cards for me...

That sounds like it is because of your OH :) I still have their basic account, but I've been told on here that it has no influence in their internal scores (because it's not a credit account) and if it did have influence I'd be on their highest card by now the amount of money I put through there!

Just realised I've put 7k through my Reward Current Account :rotfl: To think I thought I might struggle for 1k! Still a few days of this month left too! That's £5 for me next month! :D Or £6.25 if I go through the hassle of eventually reclaiming, but it involves the tax shambles people so I'll probably leave it.... More hassle than £15 is worth!

And don't worry about keeping the basic account going... I had it on £0 for literally years... it doesn't report to CRAs (Natwest's basic ones do! :D) so you won't have any bad impact from not using it, unless Halifax decide to randomly take a tough stance on people not using them, but they never said anything to me....

As for Cap1, maybe although you're linked at CRAs (I'd imagine?) Halifax gave more weighting to the information as it's their system that you've both been using? Capital One can see you're linked with your OH but might not pay too much attention to it as you're not with them?

Can I just ask for some quick advice? I have a Lloyds account, and had it since Feb, I have never been overdrawn, however whenever I apply for an overdraft online within a split second it says no, it does not even take a few seconds to load the decline page (its pretty much instant) does that mean I have something on there to say no credit products?

If so, I will go to Halifax as they gave me £100 with no quibbles....

    cheers

If a capone card (low limit £200) is ran okay do they every get closed by checking for adverse changes in CIAS data every month, that is to say can you have "a parachute" credit card? As people have bank accounts for when they are closed due to claiming charges on an old account.

I think your very likely right, the result is however a credit card with hopefully many green O's on my credit card, and I suppose goes to show that there still are some back doors to getting credit with adverse history!
