  • when was avu introduced? does anyone know?

about two years ago my cousin with fair credit (few missed payments and in arrears on about 2 cards) managed to get a natwest advantage gold account

i have like 2 months history i dont know if they accept me for their normal bank account, but i gave it a shot

just wondering if its something they introduced recently or a while back to see if i have a good chance of getting it
  • Ah ha! seems so very obvious when its spelt out in black and white!
3 defaults removed,, 1 judgment set aside
No debt - 1 mainstream card
Getting back on the financial radar

I got one and my credit file is pretty poor, though I did have a business account with them for around a year before I applied for it. Not sure if that helped in my application or not.........

    Hiya Guys

I am going to close my A+L and 1st Direct current accounts. Dont get me wrong when i always called 1st direct the customer service was 1st class etc.
I have my reasons for doing this, My A+L account i wont say no more about it and i will be running all my finances from my Lloyds TSB account

Got a fun day calling around changing my direct debits and payment dates from end of the month to the 10th of month.

I am also going to be closing 3 of my credit cards aswell and only have the one with the biggest credit limit.

you're welcome inkslinger and zack1 they're not allowed to tell you but if you go in for a review or even ask a cashier or someone on the customer services desk what the chances are that you'll be accepted they'll be able to give you am idea what the system is suggesting. HOWEVER don't let them just do an app make sure that the chances are high, if it says GUARANTEED being as you don't have any nasties on your credit file you should be ok with AVU, if the system is saying that you CAN APPLY then you have about a 70% chance of approval.
Thanks :) So when I pay money in I can just say to a normal cashier like "by the way I was thinking of getting a credit card again, how likely does it say I am to be accepted?" and then if they say "good chance" i'm at 70%+?

There not meant to tell you but if you ask they might just tell you. :D
:D Thanks :) So I could just ask for my risk band outright? I see you work there, wouldn't you get suspicious if somebody wanted to know that? :p
  • i want to see my equifax report, but where it says 30 day free trial, it then says 69.99 a year, is there anyway i can get that 30 free trial and then pay monthly?

or will i have to pay yearly?

after being accepted on-line with Capital One i got a rejection letter few days later, applied for a Vanquis Card and just got phone call being accepted, the APR was shocking but i will be buying then instantly logging on bank and repaying. Thanks for people pointing people like me in right direction to rebuild credit profile after these hard few last years!

Well done :) That's strange though! Capital One took me but Vanquis have rejected me twice and then took me and rejected me!

Even though you're eager to repay, and that's obviously the right attitude to have and will set you on your way, make sure you only pay once the statement has been generated - you'll be able to see that online if you don't want to wait for the post. Just remember your statement date and check online the day after. You get plenty of time from the statement date to pay so you may as well pay then - paying before can cause weird glitches and you might as well hold on to the money for a bit anyway! :) As long as you pay them all in full you won't get charged any of the interest by waiting
