  • Why thank you, Iv been banking with Natwest now for 8 months, I have a couple of business accounts with them and my personal account is a Gold account. Everything's in credit, plenty of savings, not a single mistake of any kind in the whole of the 8 months.

My Credit report isnt great, shows a satisfied default, (about to drop off) and a couple of CCJ's (paid and satisfied, over 2 years ago, but Im currently applying for Set aside because of the circumstances), one search within the last six months.

Does anyone think it may be worth my while trying to get a Natwest Credit card? Do they operate a policy where by Im known to the bank and a good customer with them or its purely on credit check? Iv been very grateful to Vanquis, they really have helped build up my row of green O's, but Id prefer to be out of sub prime cards if at all possible.

    Thanks for opinions and advice.
3 defaults removed,, 1 judgment set aside
No debt - 1 mainstream card
Getting back on the financial radar
  • id wait until uve got 12 months of history with them just to be on the safe side

may very well work after 6 months so you can try if you want
  • Again thank you, Im not really in too much of a rush, I dont really require credit at the moment, Im just doing my best to repair damage committed by my ex. :-( Does anyone known if Natwest work on relationships with customers rather than pure credit checks?

I must say a lot of this Credit check/acceptance/rejection stuff borders on black magic. Puzzling to me how some people are accepted and others are refused..........

I'd go for it. One extra search isn't going to hurt is it? But go in branch and apply, they may be able to push it through. :T From what I have read they do not have a behaviour score like barclays, lloyds and hsbc.

Those Experian clowns have replied, absolutely pathetic, and they think quoting parts of different bits of legislation will shut me up, erm no! And they've refunded my money to a non active credit card, so now got to see if Natpest want to give it back to me, I doubt it knowing them!

Apparently they are following 'industry standards' in being completely unreasonable, if that's the case why haven't Equifax blocked me? They are both in the same industry, and both know about it, so somehow I think that's rubbish... Then they quote the DPA which states that the data controller isn't obliged to give access to the data held if they aren't REASONABLY satisfied with the information an application gives and their identity.... so I've emailed back asking how declining to see my University registration (proof I need to be 3 hours away) or student card or my passport, driving license, national insurance number (not ID on my own but I'll chuck it in anyway), credit cards, CCAs, statements and phone contracts means they're asking for reasonable information. Complete clowns the lot of them!

Yea it's a good thing I think. They aren't the best company, but it helps to move on :) November 2009 I was getting rejected from everything but Natpest, then Capital One took me and now I'm in the little Sygma group!

Just got my card through, I have a 10% promotion purchase rate, but it doesn't say what the terms are :\ Won't be using it anyway on £200!

Yeah, funny thing is they are sending out the T's and C's for me to sign, even though I did the sign online thing, is that normal?

I have had Vanquis a year next month, not missed a payment :D Credit linit rose from £250 to £1250 in this time ;)

Nat West do have a behaviour score , but they consider it to be a "trade secret"

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2006/aug/19/accounts.saving

"NatWest uses a combination of scoring techniques. It says these are "commercially sensitive" and only used in conjunction with external credit- rating agencies to determine suitability for lending"

I wonder who inspired that article

Nationwide have a behavioural score known as a "collections score" about 230 was the pass score for upgrades when I checked years ago , but they don't pre-approve credit cards / loans so that just upgraded cashcards to Debit cards and overdrafts etc ;)

Years ago I was pre-approved by Nat West for a Gold Credit card , they would write offering overdrafts based on account conduct - I suspect that has all changed now , I don't even receive inserts with my statements these days :o

Yep pretty sure Natpest do have internal scores, I'd have never got a card from them otherwise!

I'm shocked I found it so late! Think I found this board when I was looking for "bad" credit cards haha! If I'd found it earlier I'd have probably been a good 6 months ahead, because I wouldn't have trashed my Natwest rating! :D

Ah well, I'm getting there in the end :D
