I did the pre-application check for a Barclaycard initial today - It came back 80% chance of being accepted so I applied. It said they need more information and will contact me. I hope I get it to replace my Aqua card.

Not allowed to ask within 6 months. I don't desperately need more money so I'll leave it until it's been 6 months! :)

Just checked my Experian report, and it is a lot better than the Equifax one. Some of my defaults are not listed on Experian. The other puzzling thing is that my credit score on Experian is triple the score on Equifax. I noticed that Experian have duplicated some defaults, and given them a call. They have said that they will contact the companies, and ask for them to be removed. Then email me, once it is done. So, it definitely pays to check them.

Interesting that the recent applications that I made to Capital One and Acqua, checked both CRAs.

Probably just calling your Employer to make sure you work where you said you do. Barclaycard do this often.

Good luck! They normally reach an outcome within a day or two :o

Any idea of the address where to send an appeal letter to Sygma?

I was refused instantly online, but would like to appeal, as I am recently getting more prime products (HSBC full current account, Citibank full current account with cheque guarantee card, Santander Business account for my new limited company).

My only problem is too short credit history (12 to 18 months) and not being on the electoral roll. Being self employed and a tenant doesn't seem to be very attractive for lenders.

Citibank,HSBC checks experian when credit scoring, sygma carries out checks on equifax, might be worth checking your equifax report..

Sygma won't give you a card if you're not on the ER even if you appeal. It's their most basic, essential criteria.

Reapply in a few months once you're on the ER and they should be happy to take you on board :o

HSBC search both Equifax and Experian.

My HSBC account is two months old and they searched experian. The citibank accouts were opened within the last month, again only a search on Experian.

The only two recent searches I have on Equifax are yesterday from Barclaycard, after being declined for the initial card and writing an appeal (they didn't search me the first time) and from Santander on monday for a Business account I applied for (I believe it has been accepted as I've seen on my HSBC internet banking that they have cashed yesterday the cheque with the account opening deposit).

So is the electoral roll thing with sygma 100% sure? I got a straight decline with even no search on my credit file.

Are you sure your equifax file is showing the correct data? It's very odd that you aren't seeing either the HSBC or Sygma searches.

Is your address in a format hard to enter on the Sygma application form? I.e. do you live in a flat?

And yes Sygma do not provide accounts to customers not on the ER.
