I was approved for Vanquis two months after discharge from bankruptcy, but I didn't apply anywhere without ensuring that all my credit files were 100% exactly as they should be with correct default dates, satisfaction dates, etc.

How many credit searches have you had in the last six months? I had none when I was approved for Vanquis (not much point applying for things during bankruptcy :p )

Weirdly though Capital One still say no :( I can try again in two months time so we'll see! I'll be down to <2 searches by then, too.

    Bizarre!

I have 5 searches in last 6 months, at all listed addresses - could that be the key? Weirdly none from Vanquis though - do they have someone else issuing the cards and doing the searches?

    Thanks!!!

I just had a chance to look at someone's Capital One acceptance letter, and it had in small print, that "This product is only available until 31/08/10" - could it mean larger changes along the card lineup or "only" the interests/limits are changing for the worse?

Hmmm, don't they need to give notice to existing customers? So we should know by now what changes are happening if they're being made from 31/8. Or I suppose they could just change terms etc and we then have 30/60 days to opt out if we don't like them, interesting.......

Well, it could have a reason as simple as renaming the Classic to Basic with an APR of 49%, which would not affect existing customers... (I don't know - that's not the "news" part :p)

Yea if it's new customers only then it wouldn't matter, but if it affects existing customers we can opt out. Hopefully it's a new range of cards, and that you can apply for one without closing the old one! Hate the rule that you must close it! If I got Aqua put up I would, but I've only got £200 at the moment, if I closed Cap1!

I was accepted for a cap one classic card with a £200 limit, I called today to see what was happening and the man said that it has gone to a review dept and that they will look at the application again based on what I have told them, what do you think is going on here?

I am gutted and furious. I Have had vanquis for the past 5 months no late payments kept within limit and made extra payments.

Now for the kick in the teeth, bank cancelled DD by mistake so I paid the minimum payment for July statement by debit card............. Just had Aug statement and I have recived a £12 admin charge for a failed DD and am no over my credit limit due to interest and the £12.
rang them and they told me to fill in a form at bank and get bank to refund £12 and that you should never spend up to the credit limit you should always leave £30 on the card so that you can cover the interest.
I am gutted just when I was finally getting straight and had a nice row of green zeros and hoping for a credit increase and in one fell swoop I am back to square one. I am so gutted. I will make a lump payment on Tues (dont get paid till then) but the damage is done!!!
Hope this acts as a warning to someone else!!
:j I have a persecution complex. Everytime I pass a shoe shop they persecute me till I buy them:j

If you manually bring the card back below the limit you may get away with it - I have several times with the natwest card.

Then you just need to argue the £12 back from someone. If they charged you I'd be surprised if the bank refunds the money, I'd have thought it was up to the company that charged you to fix it if it's proven to be a DD error, but there you go. If it is true that you must claim from you bank, then phone Vanquis and say you want your credit file amended. The terms don't say leave £30 either, so argue that too, good luck :)
