    Morning all!

Checked my CRFs yesterday and they're FINALLY clean (or as clean as they could be) with correctly satisfied defaults etc..

    Brief history:

BR in 2008, discharged 2009. All old balances show satisfied with correct default dates so they'll roll off in the 6 years nicely. BR shows discharged but obviously still on file.

I have a Barclays current account and a Cap One card with a £400 limit so I'm getting some nice green marks from those...also plenty of green from old accounts that I didn't default on but they're no longer active.

I've applied to Vanquis a couple of times in the past year, got a flat no both times, perhaps because CRFs still weren't clear??

So .. where to next? I dont think I'm Sygma ready just yet but where/what else should I be applying for? Aqua? Another shot at Vanquis? Catalogues?

    Cheers all!
    FB

I was approved for Vanquis two months after discharge from bankruptcy, but I didn't apply anywhere without ensuring that all my credit files were 100% exactly as they should be with correct default dates, satisfaction dates, etc.

How many credit searches have you had in the last six months? I had none when I was approved for Vanquis (not much point applying for things during bankruptcy :p )

Weirdly though Capital One still say no :( I can try again in two months time so we'll see! I'll be down to <2 searches by then, too.

Get in, think I've just opened a Halifax Reward account! :D It took forever to process after I input about being a student etc, I thought that was the credit check, then I got another screen asking if I wanted a cheque book and overdraft (said no to both, didn't want to make it hard for myself!) Cheque books are as useful as a chocolate teapot nowadays anyway!

It then said please wait up to 60 seconds in busy periods, so I assume that was the credit check (but it never actually told me!) then said how do I want to fund the account. I tried to throw £200 in from the account that shows a £278 balance but it didn't work so I assume that account doesn't actually have a £278 balance, stupid thing! So I picked I'd fund the account later and it came up with

    What we will do next

We'll send you full details in the post within the next 7 days.

Your Visa Debit card and Personal Identification number (PIN) will be sent to you separately within 8 days of your account holding a balance of £100.

If you've requested our switching service a member of the switching team will be in touch to confirm your details.

If you have any questions about your new account, please contact us on 08457 20 30 40.

Thank you for choosing to bank with us

    So that's open? :\

Watch them now play the Vanquis game and close it down :P

Just confirmed the £278 account only had £78 in it, so that's why the transfer didn't go through, £200 is a pending debit card transaction. The only slight problem with this is that as soon as it shows up on my credit report I now almost certainly won't get a Santander student account :( And I can't apply now as I don't have the proof I'm in first year yet

Pleased to report that CapOne have put my £200 limit up to £500, feel a bit less like a credit leper ;)

Was also accepted for a mobile broadband contract with 3 this week (eye-wateringly expensive monthly cost, but I did get a decent free laptop that was sorely needed after the laptops of both me and the missus died within 6 weeks :() So, new credit limit, new laptop and mobile broadband for the next 24 months - not the worst week ever!

Still, it rankles being in a quasi-HP arrangement to get a computer. We did have the savings to buy the laptop outright, but we're currently saving for a house deposit and I'd rather take the monthly hit than 'lose' a month's savings.

Thought I'd push my luck and go for a Student Credit Card with them too, this one says 90 second wait haha. They decided I'm not allowed that one :( At least I can try again in 6 months though with a current account history built up. Can't think of anything else to apply for now as I've had Tesco, Sygma & Vanquis within 6 months, so looks like that's it for me until next year!

    But over the 24 months you'll be paying £600 ~ £720 for a £275 laptop.

How does that make it easier to get your deposit saved up over time?

Is that the month 4 increase? Or just a random one?

I'm tempted to go for mobile broadband as I'd love it on the train but it's too expensive :(

    I'm on a £35 a month contract - for that I get 1GB 3G Internet, 2000 Mins, 4000 Texts, 3000 Three-to-Three mins, 100 SMS messages, and an Experia X10.

I can browse the web very effectively on the handset or connect it to my laptop and do the same. No need for a separate mobile broadband contract these days :o
