Once complete, you will need at the least 512MB RAM of PC2100 for £14.50 Will give the machine new life. Will respond quicker and will be more capable all round.
Get 1 GB RAM if you're feeling flush. £30.55.

But don't purchase yet, as you may need 512MB PC3200. 1GB here.

What you need to do is to check what you currently have installed. To do this you have to install and run CPU-Z.

Under SPD or Memory it will tell you whether you currently have PC2100 or PC3200.

Once you know you can order accordingly.

The XP recovery that came with my EI system was in fact 3 CD discs, labeled on the discs as 1/3, 2/3, 3/3.....

I'm not 100% but don't think a EI Windows XP recovery disc would fit on 1 CD:(

    Although I could be wrong
  • John-306 it Doesn't say 1/3 or 2/3 etc on it!!
Right I have installed the XP disk you sent me Donnie with no problems thanks for that, is that Bytestor thing quite easy to put in?

The machine is held back by the pitiful amount of RAM.

Other than that the specification is actually quite good for such an old machine. Get the extra RAM suggested in post #73. Take note that I've edited the post in order to change the specification of the modules. So if you have already ordered, cancel and re-order only if necessary, after you have run CPU-Z.
