Daughter signed up for mobile contract she cant afford!

Serves her right. P4U did nothing wrong in assuming that if a person asks for a contract, they are able to afford it.0

I hate to say it, but it's not up to you to decide what your daughter does; she's 18. She signed up for the contract & she needs to sort out how she's going to pay for it. Tell her that and let her get on with it.In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0

even if your daughter had gone in to the shop with wage slips to prove she was earning, she may have debts in other place's and may still not be able to afford the phone. she is an adult and its up to her to work out if she can afford something or not, not staff in a shop...
give her advice like phone o2 CAB etc.. but she needs to sort this herself or your going to be picking up peice's for her for a very long time..

Lots of people apply for mobile contracts that can't afford it and they rightly get declined at the credit check stage, which pevents future problems. This was allowed to proceed even though the customer has no job and very little "income" at the time of asking for this. This could have been prevented by both the merchant and of course the customer - but the system allowed it. The customer is not the only one at fault here.

Sell the phone to put towards the contract, and get a cheapo one until she can afford to buy a better one again.0

Pardon !
She's over 18, she knows how much or how little she has to spend.
Of course she's at fault.
According to you then there no personal responsibility here at all, and now lots of other people are being asked to run around and sort it out for her.
You have a very odd idea of how the world works...0 -

Read my posts again and you can comment correctly!!!!!!!
At 18, the daughter might have an odd idea of how the world works........
....................but both P4U and o2 will fully understand how the world works and the problems they are helping to create by allowing this.

I hope you get this sorted and stop it escalating. I just see unpaid d/d's and charges etc. which could make it all worse.
It's ludicrous a company can allow this to happen, the contract should have been declined - PAYG would have been a safer option.
I'll pm you the link now, although not guaranteed, this guy likes a fight - good luck.

I fail to see how P4u are responsible, You dont , as I dont, know what she told the store to get the contract.0
