I read it that the ex's brother had a baby daughter, not the MIL.
I've just gone back and had a look. GG says 'she' all the way through the bit about the baby rather than 'he'.
"She had a baby girl who died at a few hours old. She's never spoken to me about her except for when my eldest was christened and she asked if we'd consider using the christening gown that her baby girl was christened in.""carpe that diem"0 -
I feel your pain.
My MIL is incredibly controlling of her daughter. I think it's important to stand your ground though and assert yourself.

Aye, but the preceding sentence was that the ex had a younger brother.....so I presumed that the following sentence was about him and the 'she' was referring to the brother's baby not hers...but on rereading it yes, it looks like she had a baby girl as well as another younger brother to the ex.0

Sorry but I have to ask how long did mil's daughter live for? You say a few hours and she was christened and had a gown and everything?

Yes, she told my ex she only lived for a few hours. She told me that the ladies in the hospital chapel gave her the gown (it's a very simple, plain gown hence why I wasn't keen - it looks more like an old style baby nightie to me) for the baby to be christened in. We've never been told anything else about her. FIL has never once mentioned it and the christening dress was the only thing she ever told me.
Sorry for the confusion about my other post. It was MIL who had the baby girl. Ex has a younger brother as well. Apologies. We think/believe the baby girl was the eldest, but tbh we are not even sure of that. Certainly ex doesn't remember anything about it so we assume so.
Anyways I just popped on to say thanks and let you know that she got the letter (it was sent recorded delivery), but no-one has heard anything from her thankfully. Hopefully the realisation that I'm serious will make her back off.
Someone told me today to write to the passport office to ask them to put a mark on my daughters passports in case anyone contacts them and says they are lost and get new ones. I think/hope that is way more drastic than I need though.
I'm pottering about at the moment waiting on my cousin coming over as my contractions are nice and regular so I think baby boy will be here in the morning :jI'm so excited!!0 -

Oooohhhh!!! How exciting!!!
The baby is coming - yah:j:j
I laboured through the night (2 of them actually!!) and whilst for other reasons it was a very sad time, on the other hand it was quite soothing. I know you are home abd I was in hospital but it was very calm...they dimmed the lights, ws pitch black outside and totally silent save for the odd ambulance sirens in the distance...I got quite agitated when dawn broke and the hospital came alive and the traffic started (could have been the labour progressing mind as I did deliver at mid-day)
I don't sleep v well but I do turn PC off so when I am wandering round house/tossing and turning, I shall be thinking of you!!!
Good Luck Gemma :kisses: xx
p.s and that old bag has just cemented her fate and will miss out on ALL her grandkids now and not just the baby and/or girls0 -
Thank you for coming back and updating us. Glad she received the letter. You've done all you can, so just put the old battleaxe at the back of your mind and concentrate on your little man arriving!
Good luck and don't forget to come back and post piccies when you have the chance!
