A bit meh today, yesterday I had an extremely busy one, giving 5 hours worth of tours, followed by a trip to london zoo lates in the rain for friend's birthday! It was a very good day, but knew I was running on empty - today I am getting the emotional backlash.
This morning we had our annual dental check up, and my teeth are much better than last year, he gave me and dd 5 out of 5. OH only got a 4 :rotfl:! The fear of expensive dentistry has been keeping me on the straight and narrow in terms of regular brushing, although i do need to floss EVERY DAY from now on. £34 on two adult check ups, well done NHS .
£60 spent on weekly shop in Mr A today, although that did include a flan tin and hair dye for me. I had the sudden urge to dye my hair last week, although feeling a bit less sure right now!
Finally got a pair of birkis, brown toe posts for £30 from tk maxx. Hoping to get a good 2-3 summers out of them.
I also went into town with my eye care voucher and got a free check up and new prescription. Went to 2020 to try on their frames, and have found a beautiful pair of dior glasses, despite the fact my current ones are the same brand and I didn't want to buy overtly branded glasses! They are really flattering to my face on, I love them! Their quote (with a 50% frames sale) was £247, online can get them for £169, a saving of nearly £80. I am going to bite the bullet and order them tomorrow.
£607.01 OP to report, £400 rent and £207.01 standard OP.
I'm feeling the need to pay a bit more attention to myself lately, as you might be able to tell from the references to hair dye, etc. I picked up a copy of beauty bible beauty steals in a charity shop for 20p the other week. I have promised myself one treat a week from its recommended ones, as long as I use it I can get something else the following week. I am hoping this will stop me doing what I used to do in the past, going into boot$ or similar and getting carried away with lots of products. I also can't buy something if I have something similar at home (e.g. have to use up current face wash before getting new one).
This week I bought Sanctuary facial oil, I have been using it at night for 4 days now and my skin is much softer but not oily (i have combination skin). At £17.85 not under the usual price limit of a tenner for the book, but is well priced for that sort of product. It was on 3 for 2 at boots, so bought 3, 2 of which will give as presents, works out at £11 for one then.
Off to have a pampering bath then bed. Am hoping will be in a better mood tomorrow, and as a result be a bit less snappy with OH and DD.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Sounds like you need a bit of a rest if youve been running on empty for a while ... hope you get a peacefull ish sunday!
Pampering sounds a good idea- and sanctury stuff is lush! Just what you need for an MSE spa-nite in!

I used to work at an optmetrists before teaching and found SpecSavers were the devil. Unless you wear contacts. If you have a perscription already then go there...but don't get your eye's tested there. Never get you're eyes tested there.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Interesting thoughts re: glasses - I dont tend to use specsavers anyway as already have a prescription elsewhere but used to get contacts from them years ago!
mw- this thread has made me crave some sanctuary products for my bathroom now!...may have to do a little shop come payday!0 -
I love coming back to a full diary - and v interesting twinklie re: specsavers. Do you think they're more interested in making money selling glasses than getting your prescription right? And now I'm picturing you with a child size shrunken head :rotfl:!
tyo - just try lots and lots of glasses on, and don't rush the decision making process, it may require several visits and a few photographs. When you find the right pair, you'll know. It's also good to start paying attention to other people to see what glasses you admire. I'm not sure if I would trust a shop assistant to help me pick glasses so I took the OH. I went to 2020 on tottenham crt rd, they have an excellent range of designer glasses, but even with their near constant 50% discount on frames are extortionate. They're also extremely pushy so I don't feel bad not buying from them. Take the frame number from the inside arm of the glasses, then google it.
Facial oil is lush. Had first unprompted skin compliment on monday. have ordered a recommended mascara from ebay (£3.50), and got oh to pick up a couple of barbara daly items from Mr t when there the other day - got a black eyeliner (£4.50 i think) and her lip treatment stick which has shiny bits in and makes lips supersoft but not sticky. Was in packet marked at £3.50 but went through as £1.50. The eyeliner is nice but still ends up on the top crease of my eye after a few hours, not sure how to fix this as even mac eyeliners do this. The balm is just lovely, a total bargain - subtle but adds a bit more sheen to lips. Really really wanted to buy some more make up the other day, but after trailing round boot$ and sooperdrug, managed to ditch what I'd picked up and went home to sort out what I already had in the house and clean up all the cases.
I'm thinking next week i'll put in an order for e.l.f. stuff - anyone here tried it? Heard great stuff about the mineral make-up, and everything they do is supercheap.
Car scrapped for £115, would definitely recommend the company too as they were really professional in what is quite frankly a cowboy's market. That will be going off the mortgage once the cheque clears. Applicaiton for interest free loan has come through, just need to go to PO to send passport to them registered post for identity check.
Convinced I can get mortage to £184xxx by next mortgage statement. It still seems like monopoly money though, not really hitting home how quick mortgage is reducing. Just want it all gone NOW!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
