  • Hey mw! :)
good to hear you sounding positive, things certainly seem to be going well!
Boo about OH going away but staying sane and not having to cook your own dinners sounds like a good plan!
If ya fancy setting up the exercise challenge again (or kicking my butt!) much appreciated! I will keep posted for updates of how well you are doing to see if it can guilt me into something :rotfl:
Kindle sounds fab- Ive wondered what they are like and whether they feel as good as books to read...
Hope you get some relaxing as well as work done on the wkend!

twinklie - definitely feeling more positive. I think the refocus on priorities has been really healthy and made me realise I can't do everything. Anything I do to pay off the mortgage early should be celebrated, rather than beating myself up because I should be doing more.

I think this is a great point many of us can remind ourselves off, anything we do is a bonus and those of us with big mortgages are here for the long haul. Although immediate results would be nice it's not going to happen!

Got a great deal yesterday - waitr0se were doing 3 packs of stewing beef for price of 2 - £3.69 each. They had 3 packs reduced to £2.55 - bought them and it took £3.69 off, so it cost me £3.96 for a kilo and a half of meat! Have put in freezer til ready to use them.

Bargain! I look out for reduced items in a multibuy offer too as you can save loads!

Glad things are looking up for you mw, hope OH's time away doesn't drag too much.

Sounds like you are well on top of things. I am a great believer in a sorted out life generally making work much less stressful. I am envying your time with your family it sounds like fun.

Hey tyo - I've been v lax on the exercise front too :o and its starting to show. My DVD came this morning, and did level 1 of 6 week 6 pack :eek::eek: it is even harder than the shred - and that is saying something! However, I do think if I can do it 5 times a week, I would be ironing clothes on my belly by the summer - and surely that is saving money on an ironing board :rotfl:.

Toots - good to hear from you, I think it is natural to always want a bit of what we don't have. I envy your work trips a bit too - I can only ever do short times away as OH's work is so busy.

A really good day - gave talk that was well received (had given it before and was a bit worried it would be dull for those listening, but despite having the graveyard slot - 2nd talk after lunch - most people stayed awake :rotfl:). A fantastic free buffet, which I did have to help pick up, and I have brought home a tray of sushi which I am working through now - nom nom! It was from m&$ food to order - but they left out an essential box or two of cakes, after promising it was all there. One phone call with my polite but firm manner, and a taxi arrived shortly after carrying said missing cakes and a few extra thrown in. Colleague was in awe :D.

Had friends look after DD - this was arranged ages before OH's trip, and as I was giving a talk couldn't get out of it. DD however had a brilliant time, and said she was sorry but she hadn't missed me much at all today - rather that way than the other.

We went home via Lidl, spent £15 on some essentials - like their mini-magnums which we have been waiting to come in stock for ages ;) - and a small amount of fruit and food. Am going to make chicken pastina broth tomorrow for dinner. Meeting friend for picnic so going to see what can rustle together tomorrow. Have a bit of an aim - our house account is quite low, so would like to see if can live on the money in our hedgehog until next Saturday. I think there is about another £30 left.

Anyway, DD in bed, WM on, and I'm going to munch on free sushi and catch up on the apprentice. House to myself and enjoying it. Means I can come on here guilt free :D. So CathT, it doesn't feel like time is dragging at all (although it is only early days!)

A bit more of a mixed few days. Sunday tried to call OH in hotel abroad - after 9 attempts with no-one answering the phone had to give up :(. The time difference is such that we are unlikely to get many opportunities to speak the next few weeks. I then couldn't find dear friend's birthday card and present I bought 3 weeks ago (when migraine stopped me attending her bday party). Had minor freak out at home and turned house upside down looking for it but with little success. I think that showed how much stress I have been under the last few weeks, and only one crying fit is probably quite good considering. Turned up empty handed and apologetic. The strong winds meant a picnic was off the cards. Had lovely lunch, shared yummy pizza, DD had childs portion of pasta, and after ice-creams all round was £16.50 lighter. Definitely worth it to have good catch up with friend and wind/hassle free meal!

Made my healthy chicken and pastina broth for dinner, enough for us both and 3 left over portions.

Today has been looooonnnnnggggg, left house at 730 and not back until 830 ! Dropped DD at school, networking event in the afternoon, badgers for DD after school - which is nowhere near home so had to kill some time nursing a lemonade in a pub - am now in bed with pjs on!

Being on my own, even for a few days, reminds me how lonely being a single mum was. Nobody really cares about your daily trials and tribulations. It is OH's birthday tomorrow and am sad I can't celebrate with him.

Laptop battery about to die, so think it is time to sleep.

I think there is lots of people here that care, sorry you're feeling lonely, sure it will make OH's home coming all the sweeter.

Thanks kingster and tyo, just at a low ebb there. When I'm tired I often get blue. OH called me on the mobile from his mobile earlier, which was very naughty as it will cost a bomb, but well worth it to hear his voice :D. It is funny because on previous trips I thought I missed him from a practical point of view. Now I feel I can cope on my own I realise I just miss him.

kingster - amazing on the mortgage reduction - 16 years off already, wow! How on earth have you done it?

tyo - exercise challenge is on. Just did another round of 6 week 6 pack. Ouch! DD is about to be dropped off from a friend's house so thought would squeeze in a session.

Yet more chicken soup for dinner, glad I don't have to do anything more than turn the microwave dial though! Lunch was a healthy chicken salad sandwich reduced to 29p in Mr T yesterday, with some extra salad stuff from fridge.

Am planning to stay up til about 1130 to speak to OH properly. Time Travellers Wife came from lovefilm, so might watch that, and yet more of the Make Do and Mends, which I am addicted to ;).

    I'm officially on leave - yay :j:j:j!

Has been one heck of a week. Definitely easier than last trips OH had, but still reached the end of the week feeling shattered. Don't tell TYO, but I couldn't face getting in the pool today :o, I actually felt so dizzy I had to just sit down for a bit. Partly my own fault - I stayed up til 1230 a couple of nights to speak to OH, by time we had finished talking wasn't in bed til after 2 ! Seeing as I have to get up at 630 its been a bit of struggle! Have had fun though - some girly museum friends came over, and together with housemate had lovely meal and pudding served! I provided the wine, but seem to have been the only one drinking it really :o so a little hungover today. A really good evening though, and was great to catch up with such good people, especially as my migraines have stopped me seeing them.

Spending has been ok, a few quid here and there for lunches (probably about £7), and a few snacks, leaving collections etc. My biggest indulgence was a shop at Mr T's yesterday. Have a very cute playsuit on its way to me, as well as some good basics which I can never pick up second hand (black vests and the like), swimsuit for DD, and a very cute pac-a-mac which will be perfect for any downpours like yesterday! A good deal though, as are doing 25% off all clothing, free delivery when you spend over £50 before discount, and £10 off a £40 spend. Total spent £35 from house account :D. I didn't get the £10 off automatically, and couldn't cancel order, but they do free returns - so I just placed a second order with the right codes added :rotfl:!

Off with DD for a week in Wales. Need to pack tonight and get up silly o'clock tomorrow. Am so pleased to have time off with DD. We are megabusing it, and darn tube not fully working - grrr! But will be spending time with old school friends, seeing new babies, seeing family etc so the journey will be worth it. Plus return tickets for 2 were £10.50 including booking fee - bargain!

    Have a good week everyone.

I recently subscribed to your MF journey and thought I'd stop lurking and say hello.

How is renting one of your rooms going? It seems like a good idea financially but I don't know if I would like someone sharing my space.

Have a great time in Wales.
