  • sounds a lovely weekend mw and surprised the beach wasnt too crowded- it sounds lovley!!
I do love the idea of growing things it is certainly in the back of my mind- not sure we would have the time with an allotment but may have a hunt for anyones garden I could try out to plant a couple of bits in as a small start! not sure if I have green fingers or not so would have to give it a go!

well done on the decluttering- think I am all sold out but may put a box out just incase there is anything else I come accross!

I hear you on rightmove- best to stay away otherwise I end up imagining myself in a house which would need a mortgage about 4 times the size of the current one that I moan about being too big!! ;)

I bought 2 pairs of Birkenstocks last year from TK Max. About 1/2 price if I remember correctly. I know they have them again this year as friend of mine has recently bought some. Hoping I can get a silver pair as then they go with anything!:T

Hi MW, that sounds like an absolutely lovely week-end. I also need to avoid property !!!!!! for the next few years!

I bought 2 pairs of Birkenstocks in TkMaxx last week. A bronze pair and a lovely grass green pair for £19.99 each. I have worn both already,as I am heavy I wear BKs out in a year and have managed at least one pair from TKs every year for the last five years.

Sounds like a trip to TK Maximus is in order then! They never have them in when I go, but saying that I do only go about once or twice a year, so hopefully they will this time.

Just spent 40 mins unknotting a ball of wool - DD is trying to crochet the longest chain in the world! It is currently about 50ft long, and she is still going for it. Unknotting wool is getting a bit tedious though.

Today I plan to cook a big bit of roast lamb. Friend who is staying and her OH are going to have some, and DD and I will make an apple crumble. OH is currently at the allotment. Need to go to shops to pick up last few bits of food, see if the local delivery office is open to collect OH's new harddrive, exercise, take DD to park, and cook! Oh, and pay deposit for camping holiday!

Not looking forward to work tomorrow :(. However, as I am low on migraine medication I am looking forward to getting some more tablets!

Still eating that massive bit of lamb :rotfl: - had a lamb stirfry this evening with it, and a bit more to finish off tomorrow! It also went into a moussaka earlier in the week.

Had a bit of a wake-up call on Tuesday evening. Started my Relaxation for Parenting class - I was the only one who turned up. It was with a psychologist, and I ended up really opening up to her. Was in tears half the time! I am so stressed out at the minute, it is unbelievable. It was very useful, although the course might not run much longer given the poor take-up. She said some things to me which really made me stop and think about my life, and where I am going. What childhood memories do I want DD to have? The fact is, I have less than 8 years until she is 16, and it'll be too late to create them then. We are close, but I need to give her more quality time, more time to open up to me, to make sure we stay close even as she grows up.

She asked me to list my three priorities in life. These are DD, my health (physical and mental) and my relationship with OH. This is what I have to focus on. Anything else, after going to work of course, is a bonus. I am to give myself 1/2 hour relaxing/me time a day, 1/2 hour to OH and 1/2 hour quality time to DD and OH. Easy on a weekend, but not so much in the week when we're all tired and there's washing/food/lunches to be done and not enough hours in the day.

The fact is I do spend too much time on this site. I get a lot out of it. I learn things, useful practical things. I like the camaraderie, and the value set. But it cannot be one of my top 3 priorities. I want to be mortgage free. I want to own a house in wales. But again, these wants, however strong, cannot be a top priority. I am spending a fair amount of my valuable, precious time on this, and I have to reduce this time. So I'll probably be posting less and reading diaries less, but will still be slogging away at the mortgage, and sneaking the odd look on a fairly regular basis.

Oh - and paid a whopping £10.50 off the mortgage today from a payment from tcb :D.

On that note, going to tuck DD to bed and cuddle up with OH on the sofa :D.

  • Hey mw
sounds like 3 top priorities and that yours are in the right place- I so agree health, friends and family and after that a roof over your head and food most other things are "wants"
Sounds like you had a good chat with the group facilitator - sometimes these eye opening things can really hit home which it sounds like it has!!
I am another one who at times Im sure can whittle away hours on here- something I think to seeing people with similar goals to me and learning new things, but also after a really stressful year to eighteen months it has been a bit of escapism- MF being the end goal but driven largely by what is - hopefully a temporary- pretty hard situation! I think as long as Im mindful and aware of it thats okay, but also am at the point where I think I have cut back and played around with numbers as much as I can! and this is, after all, all about my life outside of my computer! and that is also what I need to focus on!

Enjoy your time with DD and OH it sounds like you have some sensible goals ahead :)

Who could argue with those priorities? I hope that isn't your last post but I understand if it is, I hopthat you will pop in once a week or so and let us know how you are.

Was it you starring in the Metro story yesterday?

Definitely not my last post, I think once a week or so is about right and will fit in with my priorities. Have been much more focused on DD and OH the last week, and feeling a lot calmer as a result.

That was indeed me in the Evening Standard yesterday, wasn't expecting a name check! Well spotted.

OH and I had major decluttering session over the weekend. 8 binbags of rubbish and recycling later, and another couple of binliners for charity and the new spare room has now got enough floor space for my mum to stay a few nights this weekend! :j We have a family gathering at my sister's, which I am looking forward too immensely. OH has saved all his music onto a hard-drive, and is Amazoning/music magpie-ing the rest. MM box due soon and will get £30 from that lot alone.

Had my MRI scan this afternoon, results will be with consultant in a couple of weeks but am not expecting anything untoward. OH came and held my hand (well, leg!), I appreciated the support immensely. Swish machine and good service, well done NHS :T.

Have been working on something career related, just finished and have allowed myself 20 minutes on the forums as a reward! Can't say much more than that at the minute.

On that note, off to bed...

Well done on all the work, and good luck for keeping it going in future. Very inspiring stuff, especially from a fellow museum sector employee myself :D
