froggy g you are not being intrusive at all, I appreciate you posting the link. I've had a quick look and it looks like it is more likely to happen to someone overweight, which I am not thankfully. But I have asked the neurologist whether there might be another reason for the blurred vision, and if I get to see him again I will mention this, and see what he thinks. There is no such thing as a stupid question where your health is concerned, imo.

MW I am so sorry that this debilitating and hideous set of migraines is still with you. I hope that you get to see your consultant soon and thats/he can do something. As nothing is more important than your health it feels like you need to concentrate on being better whatever that might take. If you have to take preventive drugs and they work it will be worth it as your current symptoms are so severe.

Who wants to be pregnant in the summer anyway? how nice to have a baby in the spring and have your maternity leave over the summer. Yes I do know that things never go according to plan but I am being optimistic on your behalf! Eating healthily also sounds like a very good plan, I am not sure that cutting things out in such a drastic way helps when you are a migraine sufferer your body takes such a pounding without extra shocks.

The trip to Norfolk object sitting sounds lovely. I hope that things continue on a more even keel

I'm really sorry that you are suffering MW and I haven't got anything constructive to say. I've suffered from the odd migraine myself and it really is unbearable and completely floors me, so I know what you're going through although mine is mild compared to yours.

I completely think that you are doing the right thing by not restricting your diet at this time. With all this is going on, it's too much and "dieting"/cutting back on your usual stuff always gives you headaches at first as you detox. You need as less stress as possible in your life right now.

Have you tried writing a diary ( not this one! ) on what seems to trigger them ? You have had a lot go on with the mortgage recently, the possibility of going on medication/the baby so maybe they are worse because of all this stress?
I can't be bothered updating this anymore
  • Hey mw
glad yesterday was a better day and you are feeling more positive - sometimes I have found I need to scale down my expectations of what constitutes "success" or an achievement when I am feeling unwell- the other day for example I was stressing about potential consequences of ongoing health issues and with the potential of working myself up into a right state- instead I offered mrtyo a cup of tea- as at that point that was one thing I knew I could do!! the future and what it may hold in terms of the implications I couldnt control- but I do make good tea! :rotfl:
That sounds incredibly silly Im sure- dont mean it to be patronising!- but I have found its the little things that are keeping me positive when I am feeling rubbish (physically) - so for you emailing the consultant, getting a GP appt, stopping the diet in the hope your body may regulate a bit etc.. they are great things and will give you the boost in keeping positive!
I wondered too about a stress link - it has taken me a long while to realise our mind and body are not seperate entities and have huge impacts on each other! and even though the condition itself may not be down to stress I wonder if a diary to look at the triggers/what is going on when the symptoms are worse, may be an idea? even if it is a pattern you cant spot yourself sometimes an outside eye can see things we cant.... I wondered too about whether the accupuncture helped last time whether it might be worth going back for some? I know its expensive and for me the costs sometimes put me off (thinking it could go somewhere more useful in the long term like OPs! ;) ) but if it helps then it is well worth the money I think!

On money saving news great news on the ISA interest and FD bonus- lovely when unexpected money comes along!!

So sorry to hear about the severity of you migraines, i have suffered several in the past and understand how horrible they are. However, looking back my migraine symptoms (not as severe as yours) are very similar to the symtpoms i now get when my blood sugar drops (i have reactive hypoglycaemia).

Great news about the surprise money too, hope that cheered you up a little.

Sorry you've been so unwell, mw. I've never had a migrane but I know absolutely what you mean with regards to the frustration and just how angry they make you feel. I had really severe SPD when I was pregnant and it's not an impossibility that we'll never have another baby because of it which breaks my heart. I hate the fact that my body just can't do the things I want it to which I guess is a bit how you're feeling too

It sounds to me like you're doing everything you can which is brilliant. I agree about the diet, perhaps a bit too extreme for the moment.

I know it probably doesn't feel like this but you're doing brilliantly. Take care xxx
    Updating soon...

Hi MW, sorry to hear you're still suffering. We bought a juicer recently and got a free recipe book with it. The author said he suffered from migraines and they went after he started juicing, eliminated certain foods and began exercising.

This is the recipe for migraines:

    2 apples
    1 large handful of spinach
    1 inch stem Broccoli
    1 inch slice Cucumber
    1 inch slice Lemon
    1/2 inch slice Ginger

If you need more info please PM me :)

Overwhelmed with all your supportive messages :D. The positive vibes and hugs gratefully accepted. I remember your SPD courgette and thought you were amazing getting through it.

The good news is that I have had 3 migraine free days :j. That for me is scaling down my expectations tyo, I don't really want much more at the minute! I have an appointment with the consultant for next Tuesday, and a gps appointment this morning. After that I just have a few hours of work to get through, and then the weekend :j.

On the financial front, have been looking at OH's benefits through work. Ashamed to say we had never looked into childcare vouchers - OH is a higher rate tax payer, and having read the article on here realised a) we could save up to £800 according to our annual childcare costs and b) we have until 6 April to apply before they reduce the amount higher rate taxpayers can get each week . OH was working late into the night, but ended up getting him to sign up at 11pm last night :rotfl:! I'm not sure if DD's after school club will take it so have emailed them. However, another benefit is a reduced rate for barracuda$, an activity day camp for kids. £129 for 1 week in the summer, including free early and late pick up. There is one a few miles away which I REALLY wanted to send DD to last year, but with all the extras it was too much. This means it is same price as her current one, but much much more activities :D. They take the vouchers, so we have put down for OH to take a small amount to start with so at least we can pay for holiday club with them. According to :money: you can increase the amount once you're in the scheme, so if DD's school does take them, we will increase our payments. Plus as it comes off on monthly basis it is a form of saving.

So potentially a large saving there.

Also, made another OP. A few days ago I got confused and transferred over the interest from the ISA - before it had landed in the account, out of the £1200 we had sitting there. I then transferred the rest of the money once the refund had come through. I thought it was amazing both payments added up to a round number :rotfl:! Now the interest has landed in the account, I have £83.54 more OPed!

Must get up and get DD ready for school. Am giving her breakfast at home, saving £2 on breakfast club fees.

We have always used the childcare vouchers for DD's nursery (we are both basic rate tax payers) but I think we probably save around £850 a year by doing this. They are very easy to use too, my voucher credits my online account on payday and then i just pay nursery online. You can also let it build up in your online account ( I am trying to do this for when I have 2 children in nursery! )
