Bought a vintage-looking !!!!!bow neck top yesterday from charity shop, £2.49. Is pink and grey print, silky material from M&S Autograph range. Am wearing today with my bargainous Vivienne Westwood grey wool skirt I picked up last year for £2.49 too, but until now have not been able to fit into. Looking quite Mad men, and feeling svelte. It was also cake club today due to rollover from last week - had toffee apple cake, was totally yum (maybe now not quite as svelte as was!). What a great day :D.

Sounds ace, but please put me out of my misery, exactly what kind of top was it? I'm putting every word I can think of in front of bow :rotfl:
Fingers are crossed CathT, there seems to be a bit of a pregnancy boom amongst the MFW diaries I'm following at the minute! Can't wait until I'm in more of a position (no pun intended!) to have another one.

    :T:T:T

Cocktail party was good fun, DD is being so adorable at the minute. Very good view of the fireworks, and some ace drinks. I think I did have a few too many - I am barely drinking at the minute, so having pure alcohol in cocktail format probably not the best idea! Have woken up very early, about an hour ago, as I often do after a night on the tiles.

Ended the night on a bit of a sour note with OH as I saw him smoking. He has promised me he would stop, and as an ex-smoker myself I am quite militant on this point - you either smoke or you don't. And in front of DD too! I gave him a piece of my mind, which in my inebriated state came out badly, should have waited til got home to say something but I was a bit too drunk and angry to think like that! I now am not only angry with him, but embarrassed with myself. And hungover. Sometimes I think I should stop drinking altogether.

All I've had in at least 12 months are little sips and I can't say my life is in any way lacking for not being drunk

    * * take boots for resoling

roughly how much will this be?

    .

Glad the building works are progressing quickly. I know how stressful it is living amongst all that mess though

  • Still can't quite work out multiquote, so will just reply to all here. Thanks everyone for posting, knowing I have you guys to account to does help keep me on the straight and narrow!

CathT ouch about the garage and the extra 1k! I don't really have a contingency either so can't afford for anything to go wrong. Hope you had a good family day out.

tyo it is all sorted with OH now, he literally had 2 drags and understands my wrath and the promise to not smoke still stands. Things always seem worse when drunk/hungover, another reason not to drink.

courgette I would love to know what you came up with with the bow word :rotfl:. Yes, it is easy to not drink when you have a baby to think of - maybe I just need to pretend I am pregnant to help stay off the booze :rotfl:. The boots were covered in masonry from the knock through so am going to clean them up before taking in. Will probably be about £30 for a completely new sole. The boots are vintage leather riding boots, got them for a £1 (actually, friend got them for a quid and gave them to me), and with new soles should last for a few years yet, so a good investment me thinks. I've worn them loads since I got them in January.

Kola welcome, and thanks for posting. Yes, I am quite addicted to charity shop clothes, but since starting the £100 challenge have to be a lot more selective, even at their low prices! Good luck with the deposit saving, it is interesting to see how many people are in a similar position on these boards (and all around Manchester, how odd :rotfl:!).

Yesterday we ordered the wall tiles (£175 ), we went for the vitra ones in the end. We also tried to sort out the carpet which was damaged by the builders , found that Allied carpets has gone bust  and the local Carpet Right who employed the old staff doesn't stock our carpet . We were hoping to match the new carpet on the extension to the old, but this is unlikely. We also hoped that the builders could just replace the small part they damaged, also not possible as would look like patchwork. But our carpet is very good quality and only 2 years old, I don't really want to rip it out and replace it with inferior carpet. Confused smiley needed, I need to give this some more thought.

Popped into charity booksale and spent £3 on books, one of which I'm half way through now and really enjoying. DD had dentist appointment, her teeth are covered in plaque  so we need to get some disclosure tablets and supervise her a bit better. No cavities thank goodness.

Lunch at home and then had tried a park we'd not been to before, only 10 minutes away. We had good fun on the equipment together, and a good walk around, although seemed a bit rough so not sure we would rush there again. Kids letting off fireworks on the paths and the like. DD shattered after late night on Fri.

Still loads to do around the house :eek::eek:.

Having problems with the Walkers rainy day comp, it says a square is available but won't let me take it . Will try again later.

I've won my first £10 on the walkers rainy day comp :j! It is closing soon, so doubt I will have that many more chances to win. Still, any free money appreciated ;)

Yesterday ended up being a bit of a house day - did food planning and shopping, cleaned and tidied, and had massive row with DD about tidying her room. She just point blank refused, so we put all the things from her floor in the skip (we didn't really, we just pretended to). Nuclear tactics, but hopefully she'll learn that she has to take care of her things. She eventually tidied her room, and put the retrived items away. Played game together afterwards, so we are friends again. Am planning to take her for free sch-wim after her swimming lesson today, which will make her day.

Food shop over weekend came to around £60. Bought 10 of the Lidl mueslis as they are down to 74p a pack, and of a similar quality to the Dorset cereals, IMO.

Entered meter readings online, and we have only spent £100 on gas and electric in 4 months :D. We have a £200 credit, so hoping we can get through winter without any nasty bills at the end.

Bit of advice needed on what to get sister for 40th birthday - it is this weekend. I've asked her and she can't think of anything, i would like it to be a bit special. Any suggestions?

Bad news about the carpet - have you decided anything?

I have missed this Walkers competition, well done on the £10!

Re: your sister - how about a mini pamper treatment at local beauty salon or spa day if funds will allow. Think there are some good deals to be had esp in current climate.

Your elec/gas usage is fab too! think how much better it will be when loft conversion finished too - you won't use any!!

I'm going to try and find the receipt for the carpet, apparently it might have the name of the type, and an independent has offered to source it for me. This may take most of December to sort out!

There are a fews days left on the Walkers comp if you want to have a go. Loads of storms predicted too ;). I also had £7.21 to withdraw from tcb today :D.

I do feel very :A about the energy use. Saying that, I am freezing this evening!! We have started using the tumble dryer as nothing is drying at the moment.

DD and I had a free schw-im together which was lots of fun :D. Forgot her goggles though - refused to put face in water and was test day so think she'll be going back in the same level *again* next term!

Had a quick look on lastminute for spa deal in Manchester, where sis lives. Nothing was leaping out at me - I've done a £10 spa deal before and tbh didn't think it special enough for pressie - but the nice ones are really really expensive!!

Spent £4.80 on cards for niece and sister, and shop didn't give me card for sisters - didn't realise til I got home and only one I could find was a massive padded one! She'll be disappointed when opening it :rotfl:!

Will take a look. What are 'storms'?

  • Just normal forecasted storms, no special walkers meaning there :rotfl:!

Feeling really low today. Knocked on neighbour's door to let them know the roofers would fix the stack today. The face said it all, they are clearly upset with us. Is such a shame as we get on really well, have gone out for drinks together, our kids play together, and I genuinely like them! It is upsetting me lots to think I may have lost a friend over this conversion (trying not to cry at work about it - just failed).

Feeling a bit brighter this evening. OH won £10 on walkers challenge :j (he wooped with joy!) and I have been offered £25 of vouchers for project work :D.

Spent £20 of pocket money on lunch, and £7 on gift for friend's bday later in the month - was meant to be going out tonight and tomorrow night but both have fallen through. It is a shame as I was looking forward to catching up with some people before OH goes away; the only plus side is that I won't be spending anything. £85 left in personal account according to ATM receipt.

Went to topshop after work and tried on some jeans. Have settled on a high waisted skinny pair, which might actually be a ridiculous idea, but they were my favourite of what they sold and I felt good i them. Hoping to find them cheap on ebay as only £20 left of clothes budget and they were £40 full price !

hahaha :rotfl:never considered the weather, i have money saving on the brain!! I have signed up for bingoport but no luck yet. I googled Walkers competition but couldn't find much except t&c's!!

Am so sorry about the reaction of your neighbours, surely if all the work has been agreed by planning and the builders have sorted what went wrong all should be ok. If not resolved soon hopefully the festive season could offer a bit of an ice breaker.

Sorry your nights out have fallen through, but at least you don't have to go out in the storms ;)
