  • I know that feeling of "phew not made an idiot of myself this time" I've built a whole career on that crumbling sand! I hope the works are going well.

Yes, me too :rotfl:. Works are going well, steels in, roof half off, staircase measured, en suite material on site. Lots of banging upstairs in general, they are onsite at 7.30AM so no chance for a lie in today. Am too scared to go up the scaffolding and look for myself though. How is San Fran - is the conference ok?

SmlSave - had lovely day with my mum. Don't get to see her much. We went to a small museum, Museum of Brands & Packaging which was started by a crazy obsessive collector, Robert Opie. Just ram packed full of old stuff! Broke every museum rule, but good fun nonetheless ;). Mum had a 2for1 with train ticket, plus DD - spent £4.

Found a discarded oyster card - had been bent and thrown away. Bent it back into shape and got £4 back from tfl (£3 deposit and £1 left on it). Why someone would throw it away I have no idea.

Sold 2 books on Amazon, had mad panic trying to find them in the house chaos but at last have managed to locate them. One will be posted a day late though :o not sure if I should contact buyer or just wing it. Am really annoyed with myself but have been so busy last few days it was inevitable.

Leftover pork stir-fried for dinner, nom nom.

Building works are going nicely then! The chaos will be worth it.

Well done on the Amazon sales, mine have slowed right down, or stopped!

Mine had a very dry spell for a few months too CathT. Posted them today, made £4 profit from both so not a massive amount, but happy with that.

Took DD to museum store with me today, meant saved £30 on childcare. Have got throughout half term without having to use childcare, tomorrow will have to send her in but £30 for a half term week is very good :j. DD was a dream today, so pleased with her, and got lots done that needed doing. Bought lunch from supermarket - £3.79 and ended up buying a few bits from charity shops , only £4.50 spent, but still. DD said to tell OH that a monster inside me made me buy them - that is about right :rotfl:! Did get a vintage coffee pot that will give to friend for xmas, a 2 set of LSA espresso cups (another potential present), and a jacket for DD.

Payday tomorrow :j! Has been an expensive month, so looking forward to wiping the slate clean. OH out on work do tonight, looking forward to quiet night in. Have event am working at tomorrow which will be a late and busy one, so will enjoy the calm before the storm!

Half term in the store sounds like quite a good deal to me we have loads of staff kids in doing a bit of child labour at half term. I encourage them to be handing out leaflets. Someone's got to do it. Sounds like teh loft work is going really well.
  • sounds like the loft going well!
well done on the amazon sales (and managing to find the books! ;) ) and sounds like your charity shop shopping was "needed" if you are getting some pressies out of it (or you could always go for the "monster" excuse- very imaginative! :rotfl:) dont think a bit of helping out/getting used to working environments would do dd any harm , it could probably be quite fun! :)

Well, another month started - and £1k into savings :j. However, have to pay builders £11K + VAT this week  , so more out than in at the moment! Shopping done - £37 this week, including a large bottle of gin ;) and extra sausages half price from deli counter in sainsburys which will use next week.

Took DD to Osterley Park today, a NT place on outskirts of west london. First visit - they had a pumpkin day and DD loved it. We are members so free to get in, just petrol getting there and back. Lovely to see all the autumn leaves, and a stunning property.

I love Osterley, I bet it's beautiful at this time of year. Take heart from the money going out to being one step closer to a new room. I have about 8k to go and I will pay off £4 k in the same time. It looks ever more likely that the mortgage will be closer to £175 k rather than the£170k I was hoping for. The only good thing is that by the end of January it will be mortgage only.
  • It is gorgeous, we are thinking of going back at Xmas too. What are you having done on the house - sounds quite major. Are you going to move back there when it is done? Good news the credit card will be gone, not so good news about the mortgage, but I'm sure you'll have it down in no time.

DD has horrendous cough. Despite giving her everything legal for children, she hacked her way through the whole night, spending most of it in our bed. We are all shattered as a result, so much for the extra hour in bed! Have acupuncture shortly, have to treat DD's nits  (when do they stop getting them?), was thinking of taking DD to a free event at St Pancras, Wicked Day, but given the sleep deprivation will have to play it by ear.

Hope DD is better soon, coughs seems to linger for weeks don't they. I didn't notice the extra hour either but am hoping DD goes to bed a little earlier tonight!!

Not sure about the nits, seems to be more primary age doesn't it. Unfortunately there are always children whose parents don't check their hair or treat the lice so it's neverending!

Have a good day if you do go out. Nothing planned here as working later.
