I bought those floor tiles for my bathroom and the grey/browny ones for the kitchen, they are a good price. I'm with you I think the bathroom will look classy and calm.

I have to go into work today so will do a quick clean round this morning before moseying off to work at lunch time.

Sounds like you had a wonderful evening, always good catching up with old friends. I can't believe your loft work starts tomorrow, that seems to have come round quickly all of a sudden - are you ready for it????

I like the tiles, classy and simple is always best. Sometimes tiles can look a bit 'busy' in bathrooms.

How long is the work going to take?

toots - while you've got the hoover out, any chance you could give mine a quick once over? The closest I have been to the hoover in three weeks is yesterday, when I heard the neighbours using theirs :rotfl:! Thanks for the feedback on the tiles, you sound like a classy lady so will tell OH he is definitely wrong ;).

CathT - can't believe it either! They are actually starting on Wednesday now as they had something to finish off. Still a bit left in the loft - no idea where will put bathroom fittings, rest of junk, and tiles! Emotionally a feel a bit numb to it, a bit in denial - am hoping to close my eyes for 7 weeks and have it all finished! So hopefully first week of December will all be over - apart from the decorating, which we will do. OH just had 2 week trip to china/india signed off at work, bang in the middle of the works.

Right - acupuncture today, followed by inaugural book club. Only 130 pages to read before 4pm today! Have good days one and all.

tyo - must admit the OH cleared it all whilst I was swanning around yesterday :o. I found it extremely difficult on Saturday and was about as much use as a chocolate teapot. But it is all done now and ready for Wednesday. Acupuncture went well - felt easier than the week before. Finished the book before book club too- as it would have taken me all day to go back home and come back again sat in park reading in sunshine instead with tea in a polysterene cup. Was bliss :D I never get a couple of hours to myself and I really do need it! Talking about books feels a bit like A levels all over again but did really enjoy it and look forward to the next one!

CathT - did not know that about homebase - will keep an eye out. We have already bought the floor tiles which I'm glad as they are low in stock in our area. Online reserve said 75 in our local store - when OH went there yesterday they had none! Customer Service was rubbish, didn't even offer to check stock in other stores or transfer reservation. He ended up driving around different stores and getting lost yesterday afternoon, managed to get the last 8 in another store. We will see what price they are this weekend - if cheaper still will buy more and return with expensive receipt! Think might put a complaint into homebase about the reservation system...

Today must FOCUS at work and get on top of work mountain. Taking DD swimming and think I will get in myself for the first time in a few weeks as cold is now receding. Want to push hoover round and empty hall for Wednesday. And pull together premium bonds ready for posting off.

Just found out DD has parent's evening tonight - have a bit of a rush now after swimming to get her there so I'm not going to get in myself, getting dried will delay us too much for the 30 minute walk to school!! Don't know what she does with the letters they give her, teacher said she sent home 2 last week.

FINALLY received drawings from architect, I have gone into blind panic as I don't like them. Feel like its going to be a tiny room, and we're ploughing all of our money into it.

OK don't panic. Lay out the size of the new room on the floor of your biggest room with tape and then put in outlines of the furniture you are putting into it. Often the size on the drawings is deceptive (can be both ways). I hope it is better than you think.
  • I hated our new bathroom for most of the time it was being put in and kept thinking to myself was i making a mistake. I really love it now though. I think it was all the stress and how long it seemed to take. Advice above about measuring it out was good.
  • Thanks for the words of advice both, I spent quite some time looking at the plans last night and think that may be the only way they can fit in stairs and doors to both extra rooms. however, we have asked to speak to someone tonight at home about the plans as they are a bit more compromised than I thought. Also, the rear extension is higher than I thought it would be, and will probably annoy the neighbours. Although it is within permitted development, I get on well with them and like them a lot, so don't want to hack them off. Going to see if it is possible to have lower back extension.

Finding this really difficult, am just wishing away the next 2 months, sad but true.

On a more positive note, have had subs upped for museums association to reflect what I earn (a bit anti MFW but ethically correct), and have called hospital for replacement glasses for DD. Been meaning to do that since July. Will try and get a walk in at lunchtime. Chocolate cake from cake club today, yum! And did level 2 of the shred yesterday. Amazingly have not put on any weight last 3 weeks, despite lack of exercise and huge amount of bday chocs I have scoffed!
