Good to hear that the work has started, isn't it blooming freezing in London? Your house will be as warm as toast when you have a loft conversion it makes a huge difference.0

good luck with finding balance :rotfl: think I need a bit of that too ...
hear ya on the new mortgage calc- somtimes Im fine with how long itll take me to pay off, other times I enter numbers over and over (to see if theres anything that will come up as "Congratulations!! this will mean you can pay your mortgage off tomorrow!!) for me, it is about having the freedom to carve out a work situation that I enjoy and is sustainable - quite possibly once I change from where Im at at the moment the desperate-ness (thats not a word is it? ) to pay it off instantly will go a bit..
relaxing wkend sounds good, pretty much our plan too ... have some nice food in for dinner to celebrate me earning money again, then seeing friends and family over the weekend . not seen mad men before but noticed it on iplayer yesterday (think its series 4 tho) whats it about?
will look into cashback sites once Im being paid...as no money coming in didnt feel I could spend it on stuff, but will certainly have a browse!
good luck with the loft works0 -
Quite a lot to report... OH was pickpocketed by group of youths on way home on Thursday eve. He was annoyed as the wallet was a gift from me, and followed them. Called police and managed to get them arrested, was at police station til 2.30am giving evidence. He is a bit shaken and it is not likely they will be prosecuted. He is also coming down with something, so weekend not quite as relaxing as hoped. Friday night I went for a couple of drinks after work I had already committed to (£6 spent), but came home with a waitrose ready meal and pudding for us, £11 plus free bottle of wine. Was like having a take away, which we never do. Yesterday we did our market shopping, spent £90  but did get stuff to make presents for xmas - 2 jars of quince brandy now doing their magic in the kitchen! Plus good offers on things like razor blades, so bought 6 months worth. Started making mexican pork belly, but it was taking so long we ended up having stuff from freezer, and pork will be made tomorrow. No mad men as it hadn't arrived, watched x-factor instead
Had good acupuncture session today, he thinks the migraines is linked to the stomach, which would make sense as I do get them when hungry, or can get the burps. I had a horrendous one at work on Thursday, ended up locking myself in disabled toilet in the dark for 40 mins, sitting on the floor. Generally the frequency has decreased though.
Had fantastic sunday lunch cooked for us by friends today, and walk across hampstead heath. Roast chicken, all the trimmings, and homemade apple pie. Yum. A very good day. Have also managed to tidy up house a bit, it was getting on top of me. The steels went in on Friday, half the roof is now ready in bags to go in the skip which came at 8am yesterday with no warning! Definitely progressing quickly, it is blinking freezing so the sooner the better!
Moneywise OH is cardless now after the theft, so have filled up petrol tank and hoping we can get to end of week and payday whilst not having to take any out of savings. I have £10 left of pocket money.... OH is bust on his.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Your poor OH, I take it he didn't get the wallet back then
Well done to him for getting them reported! I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to follow someone who had stole from me - too much of a coward.
Sounds like you had a good 'foodie' weekendCurrently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

sorry to hear about OH how scary! hope he is okay, not surprised he is shaken up
sorry to hear about the migranes but hopefully accupuncture is helping ?
other than that sounds a weekend full of yummy food!0 -
Thanks SmlSave - the wallet was recovered from somebody's front garden, but is evidence at present, he will get it back eventually. I think he was brave/stupid too :rotfl: there is always a thin line but you can't live in fear, and if he hadn't they wouldn't have got arrested and the evidence against them.
tyo - think the acupuncture is helping, although had cracker of a headache yesterday afternoon too, was stuck on a train and couldn't read or do much. The frequency does seem to be decreasing, just wish they would STOP!
Food was fab - we had the tamarind infused pork belly last night, with green rice. It was absolutely delicious! Can't wait to try more of the recipes!
Have an event today for the museum group I am on the committee for. Hosting a breakfast meeting  followed by an all day event. Lunch is provided, have to come home and write text labels for an event after though!

Sorry to hear about the pickpocketing incident, there really are some lowlifes out there.
Hope your migraines settle soon - don't let yourself get hungry!
Keep us updated on the loft work.
Re: Cashback sites I seem to have deserted Quidco for TCB at the moment and have been doing the daily clicks on there, I seem to get screened out of the surveys. Like you say, you generally have to spend to get cashback. I am certainly going to see what cashback I can get out of the rest of my Christmas shopping.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Day went well, didn't make too much of a fool of myself which is my main aim in life! Did get another headache, I think it is a sinus related headache rather than a migraine though as different kind of pain and did not get double vision. Left the post-event drinks after 1/2 hour because pain killers not making a difference.
Been working on work stuff til now, have day off tomorrow :j with DD and meeting my mum for a few hours. Hoping to go to small museum and have lunch somewhere, will have to try and find an offer or somewhere cheap.
Noted to do before I forget:
* claim back expenses from committee
* get statement from transport for London
* claim back for delays to tube this evening (and possibly this morning once have statement).
* send off Premium bonds for cashing in
* transfer ISA money out
* check what cheques due to builders
* check when need to order radiators
Bathroom stuff arrived today and apparently looks great, I will take a peek tomorrow.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

I know that feeling of "phew not made an idiot of myself this time" I've built a whole career on that crumbling sand! I hope the works are going well.0
