The builders will meet the additional delivery charge, and any money not refunded from the return :j.
CathT - DD's cough is getting much better thanks, still some general hacking at night but much better than before.
Welcome Caroline, and good luck for your MFW journey - I will start following your diary too. Hope there has been some useful things in amongst my general witterings!
Have claimed back for late tube last week, just the evening as the morning wasn't more than 15 minutes (just felt like it! :rotfl:). Will be my first successful tube claim ever if it happens.
Also picked another spot on the rainy day promotion.
Head spinning at work, have tidied desk and written a current projects list for the wall, need to work out what my priorities are here but at least I can see a bit more clearly now!
OH not coming to fireworks, so will be £4 for me + DD plus food.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

hey mw
glad the builders are sorting the costs of the mistakes out - that must be a relief!
well done on making it to work in the tube strike - we had hardly anyone in! I of course battled my way in :rotfl:
enjoy the fireworks , am watching some right now out of our windows0 -
It certainly is a relief, tyo! Impressed with Victoria Plumbs customer service, the shower will be picked up next week. The £49.95 charge will be reimbursed by the builders. I've placed the order for the new smaller shower unit, which will be delivered next week. We still have to pick the bathroom wall tiles, and decide on radiators before OH goes on his trip, so I think a busy weekend is ahead!
Have picked another rainy day spot, never before have I hoped for rain so badly!
Fireworks were great last night, and this year DD decided to stand with me to watch them, rather than run around with her friends. Meant a lot for us to do that. We have a cocktail party at a friend's house this evening - her loft room overlooks our local fireworks display and is just around the corner meaning easy to get home afterwards! Am planning to take some bottles of Asda cava as it has won a silver decanter award, if I remember correctlyand is only £4.28!
Bought a vintage-looking !!!!!bow neck top yesterday from charity shop, £2.49. Is pink and grey print, silky material from M&S Autograph range. Am wearing today with my bargainous Vivienne Westwood grey wool skirt I picked up last year for £2.49 too, but until now have not been able to fit into. Looking quite Mad men, and feeling svelte. It was also cake club today due to rollover from last week - had toffee apple cake, was totally yum (maybe now not quite as svelte as was!). What a great day.

Fingers are crossed CathT, there seems to be a bit of a pregnancy boom amongst the MFW diaries I'm following at the minute! Can't wait until I'm in more of a position (no pun intended!) to have another one.
Cocktail party was good fun, DD is being so adorable at the minute. Very good view of the fireworks, and some ace drinks. I think I did have a few too many - I am barely drinking at the minute, so having pure alcohol in cocktail format probably not the best idea! Have woken up very early, about an hour ago, as I often do after a night on the tiles.
Ended the night on a bit of a sour note with OH as I saw him smoking. He has promised me he would stop, and as an ex-smoker myself I am quite militant on this point - you either smoke or you don't. And in front of DD too! I gave him a piece of my mind, which in my inebriated state came out badly, should have waited til got home to say something but I was a bit too drunk and angry to think like that! I now am not only angry with him, but embarrassed with myself. And hungover. Sometimes I think I should stop drinking altogether.
And when got home found note from neighbours to say the building work has dislodged some of their chimney and there is a gaping hole in their ceiling! Arrgh! We have emailed builders and am hoping it can get sorted asap. Knock-through happened yesterday so thin layer of dirt over every surface.
Today, DD has dentist, and we are going to do a big shop. OH goes on work trip on Friday, so we want to get in as much as possible. We also need to get tiles for wall of ensuite. I feel a list coming on:
* [STRIKE]clean house[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]take DD to dentist[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]purchase tiles[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]meal plan[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]food shop[/STRIKE]
* take boots for resoling
* send card to niece for bday
* [STRIKE]washload x 2[/STRIKE]
* change bedlinen
* [STRIKE]chase builders re: next doors chimney[/STRIKE]
* card and present for OH's nephew
* card for SIL (bday when OH away)
* [STRIKE]Treat DD for nits[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]enter meter readings[/STRIKE]
To end on a positive note, have transferred £200 to savings as salary now landed in main account :j.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Sounds like real life has been a bit of a !!!!!!, here's hoping for a good week-end and a good next week - there's always something with builders you feel so guilty when something on your house effects next door. Have a good day.0

Thanks toots (hope you don't mind me calling you that!). It is all a bit stressful at the minute, I am finding the building work really unsettling. Our stuff is everywhere - boxes, bed linen from the cupboard that was knocked down yesterday... plus now the dirt as well!
I like our builders a lot and know they will fix it. Got text back from neighbour to say she had managed to catch a builder after she posted the note, and they have covered it up and will look at it. Am so glad we went with this company, as at least having faith in them to do a good job and right any wrongs makes the process easier. I get on really well with my neighbour, they are a lovely family - I hope they are still talking to me at the end of this project!

Double oh no! I think I would have reacted in a similar way if it had been my DH, esp after a drink or 2!!
Your builders sound fab though as any mistakes which happen they rectify for you so quickly! I guess with big projesct like this something happens you don't expect! When we had our garage converted I came home after a 13.5 hour shift to find the garage roof practically off, they had to raise it! fine i thought till I was asked for another £1000!! Didn't have much of a contingency fund in place either!
Hope you manage to get lots done off your list. We actually have a family day off today, don't get many days off together so are taking DD out later.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
sorry to hear about the argument with OH , I think I wouldve been annoyed too - but I know after a couple of drinks its hard to judge how to play it sometimes! have been there and done that :rotfl: hope your head feels better soon!
builders sound great and glad next doors issues fixed!
have a good saturday0
