Thanks for all the birthday wishes, much appreciated! :T The dancing banana is definitely worth getting a year older for!
Had an absolutely fabulous day. Cup of tea in bed opening all of the cards and presents sent from friends and family. So touching, feel very spoilt. Breakfast at home with DD, then into town with OH to see the Enchanted Palace exhibition at Kensington Palace. It is fantastic, really enjoyed it. Then my surprise lunch was at... the Lanesborough Hotel!!! Was very overwhelmed, the food was fantastic and had a kir royale too. They brought out an extra cake with happy birthday written in chocolate! Picked up DD from school and just taken her to the supermarket to buy all the snacks for tomorrow's trip to Legoland. Going to bake some cupcakes to take with us as birthday cake, and then curl up in bed with True Blood and OH. Fantastic!
I can't say it was a MFW type of day... although I did post my amazon parcel and RISI book on way into town, and try and get a discount without much luck at the palace! We did the set lunch, although OH paid for it out of his pocket money so I will never know the true cost. We love to eat out, and one fancy pants meal a year is what we do now - we skip takeaways and do that instead. Plus we do set lunches which is way way cheaper than dining out in the evening. I now sound like I'm trying to justify it, so will stop!
Did have a bit of double vision on way home (about 20 minutes worth) but cleared up and no headache at the end.

Thanks, it was a great day. Yesterday was also brilliant - took DD and two friends to Legoland. They had a fab time together, let them go on some of the (gentle) rides alone which they loved, and took them on a water ride and the pirate ship. All of them said it was the 'best day of my life'... being only 7/8, that may be true! Packed lunch went down well, avoided the shops altogether, had full day there - 11 til 5, and then a McDonalds with homemade bday cakes on the way back. Totally exhausted by the end - we'd been out the house from 8.30 til 8pm, but it was worth it!
Did however lose my voice slightly... so am whispering and rasping at the moment. Think I have been ignoring that cold the last couple of days due to bday madness, but it is not going anywhere. Sore throat and chesty cough with it. Cancelled friends coming over for Sunday lunch, OH took me to acupuncture, which was a bit hard this week. Plus I was annoyed to find that next week's session had been swapped over to a different practicioner without telling me, so friend of other receptionist could see the person I normally see. I do have phobia of needles, and don't really want to see someone as a one off. It did get swapped back though - just hoping no more appointment changes before the session next week! Otherwise I will end up being the crazy lady in reception...
We spent a small bomb in Sainsbury's on Fri for packed lunches (and a few store cupboard items) = £58, £12 on lamb shoulder/bacon today, and £18 in tesco = £90 for weeks shop. This is just over the top end of our weekly budget, but feel confident we will get through the week on this, and that we did buy sensibly - such as 5kg of rice for £4 in tesco. Although it is my turn to bake for cake club this week!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
